Xfinity Series

Daytona and the Xfinity Series pretty much only means one thing…. Carnage. We see DNF counts in the 15 range on average here at Daytona. This means there are tons of drivers with bad scores on DK. On the flip side of this, we also get numerous surprises with drivers who score tons of place differential points and far exceed normal expectations. This race breeds chaos. I believe that the best path to victory is playing a pair of high-end drivers (i.e. Allgaier and Gragson) who can finish at the front and win, while also leading a bunch of laps and who may offer a few place differential points. I then look to follow that up with a bunch of mid-tier to extreme punt plays who can offer big place differential potential and who will likely finish the race and avoid the wrecks.

Daytona International Speedway

The Xfinity Series make their way back to Daytona this week. This time around they will be back on the oval and ready to do some pack racing. As always, when going to Daytona the first thing on my mind is avoiding the wrecks. Racing at Daytona involves running in tight packs with 20-30 drivers right on top of each other. This makes for an exciting but unpredictable race. As for the DFS slates, place differential is super important. You will hope to play drivers who can avoid the big wrecks and get as many drivers to the finish as possible. With a low number of laps and fast laps spread throughout the field, dominators are not overly important. At most, you will consider only one driver for lineups who can dominate.

Favorite Xfinity Series Play: Timmy Hill

So the DFS World has caught on to Timmy Hill and his Daytona excellence but he is too good to not play a ton of this weekend. He finished 3rd in February here which gave him his 8th straight top 20 and 4 top 10s here. He is going to offer a ton of place diff potential and should be a strong contender for the optimal. On the flip side, he will be chalk so if you want to find an edge then this may be the spot to fade TIMMAY and hope he has issues.

Truck Series

This week the Truck Series will race at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.  Gateway is an ultra-low banked 1.25-mile track located just outside of St Louis. We generally see roughly 25% of the race run under caution with an average of 7 cautions per race. This will put a premium on drivers who excel on restarts. Due to the low banked, tight corners trucks that handle the best and can rotate the center of the corner will be able to run upfront. I am looking for two dominators in this race and to try and find some killer place differential plays. This track races a lot like a short track so younger drivers tend to have more success here compared to what we have seen in recent weeks at the big 1.5 mile high downforce tracks.

Favorite Truck Series Play: Sheldon Creed

Creed should be starting 17th or 18th this week. This means he will offer a bunch of place diff points to go along with his top 5 upside. He finished 7th here last year. I think he will end up too cheap again and be one of the best plays available for this race.
