Daytona International Speedway
This week marks the regular-season finale for the NASCAR Cup Series. For the first time in the series history, the final race prior to the playoffs will take place at Daytona. This added intensity should make for quite the high pressure, action-packed event. At Daytona, the cars run in huge packs due to the draft. This often leads to big wrecks taking out large portions of the field. I expect this to be even more prevalent considering the circumstances. Teams that are locked into the playoffs can go for additional playoff points. Teams on the bubble have to try their best to stay out of trouble while outpointing their rivals and wildcards like Ricky Stenhouse will be going for broke and trying to get a win secure a playoff birth.

DraftKings
DraftKings is all about that place differential for me this week. I think we will see carnage which will give a lot of smaller back marker teams the opportunity to finish top 20 or even top 10. Look no further than what Corey Lajoie has been accomplishing over the last couple of years at the SuperSpeedways. We could see a single driver lead a large chunk of this race but with fast laps spread throughout the field, I will put very little thought into who dominators will be. Leaving a large amount of salary on the table is completely viable and is encouraged.
Favorite DK Play: Quin Houff
This is part joke but also partly to explain that literally every driver is in play. Houff is by no means a good driver and should not be considered on the level of the previously mentioned Lajoie in terms of a driver who can massively overachieve. However, he is exactly the kind of driver who can avoid the wrecks, finish 17th and with the place differential points end up on an optimal lineup. While I do believe there are better plays I think this illustrates the viability of any and all drivers including the ones you might normally ignore.
FanDuel
FanDuel and SuperSpeedways are literally my least favorite thing in the world. It is a total crapshoot. Realistically, you just need to spray and pray and hope to hit the top 5-6 finishers. Because place differential points are only .5, the extreme punt plays don’t have the same viability as they do on DK. They can score really well but a 17th probably still doesn’t get them on the optimal. There really isn’t any right answer to lineup building. Just do your best at trying to highlight some potential top 5 finishers who will also add in place diff points.
Favorite FD Play: Chase Elliott
Chase is a great example of someone who offers place diff points because he starts so deep in the field but is a threat to win the race. Just a fantastic all-around play.
