DFS Army – NHL Breakaway Advice Strategy Picks and Player Pool for FanDuel and DraftKings – August 2nd

PLAYOFFS IN A BUBBLE, DAY 2

We are on to day two day and for a sport that has not been played in a while, a lot of the same outcomes were continued. Such as Connor McDavid pointing up over 3 points and the Oilers losing in the same game. Mika Zibanejad scoring over 2o fantasy points and the Hurricanes shooting the puck on goal over 35 times. With that being said, I am looking to attack some familiar spots here.

FanDuel split the slates and made the night games the main, if you are able to I fully recommend playing on DK today.

Arizona Coyotes VS Nashville Predators

O/U 5.5, NSH -115

Arizona Coyotes:  As mentioned with sticking with familiar trends, this game is full on fade for me outside of large field GPPs, neither of these teams have played strong offense all year.

5 star plays – none

4 star plays – none

Cash viable – none

GPP Sleeper – Taylor Hall

Nashville Predators: With the likes of Matthews and MacKinnon on the slate it is hard to want to pay up for Roman Josi in a series where he probably won’t see as many potential blocks.

5 star plays – none

4 star plays – none

Cash viable – none

GPP Sleeper – Mikael Granlund

Philadelphia Flyers @ Boston Bruins

O/U 5.5, BOS -130

Philadelphia Flyers:  Philadelphia was the hottest team in the league before COVID took down the season, with no hime ice advantage for Boston and how low owned Philly will be relative to their upside, their are some looks here. Kevin Hayes is only $5100 on DK and scored in the exhibition game and van Riemsdyk is averaging over .5 points a game and is only $4100.

5 star plays – none

4 star plays –Kevin Hayes

Cash viable – James van Riemsdyk

GPP Sleeper – Claude Giroux

Boston Bruins: With other betting cheaper lines to stack on this slate, I am not looking to BOS1 here, especially after Pastrnak’s failed physical. Jack Studnicka is min price and on PP2 and BOS2.

5 star plays – none

4 star plays – none

Cash viable – Jack Studnicka

GPP Sleeper – none

St. Louis Blues @ Colorado Avalanche

O/U 5.5, COL -105

St. Louis Blues:  Vladimir Tarasenko is back from his lengthy injury and is only $5700, this man is a $6500 or more player when he is hitting his stride. St. Louis were the best team at home this season so it is going to be interesting seeing them not being able to take advantage of that in this series and any future one.

5 star plays – Vladimir Tarasenko (DK)

4 star plays – Vladimir Tarasenko (FD)

Cash viable – Vladimir Tarasenko

GPP Sleeper – Zach Sanford

Mar 8, 2020; San Jose, California, USA; Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon (29) during the second period against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center at San Jose. Mandatory Credit: Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Colorado Avalanche: This team is a force on offense and I am excited to see what they can do fully healthy (minus Colin Wilson). Nathan MacKinnon is my favorite play on the slate, he is such a fast skater and can blow by people like no one else other than McDavid. Landeskog has scored the most of MacKinnon’s assists this year so I love him as a stacking option as well.

5 star plays – Nathan MacKinnon

4 star plays – Cale Makar, Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen

Cash viable –Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen, Cale Makar

GPP Sleeper – Nazem Kadri

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Toronto Maples Leafs

O/U 6.0, TOR -145

Columbus Blue Jackets: Another team I am not looking to unless it is for large field GPPs.

5 star plays – none

4 star plays – none

Cash viable – none

GPP Sleeper – none

Toronto Maple Leafs: So many good plays here, Mikheyev was smashing value before his injury and he remains cheap and on John Tavares wing. Auston Matthews and William Nylander should be the highest owned mini stack on that slate outside of MacKinnon and Landeskog. I love them both in cash but the heavy ownership is a problem for GPP upside.

5 star plays – Auston Matthews

4 star plays – Ilya Mikheyev, John Tavares, William Nylander

Cash viable –Ilya Mikheyev, John Tavares, William Nylander, Auston Matthews

GPP Sleeper – Tyson Barrie

Minnesota Wild @ Vancouver Canucks

O/U 5.5, VAN -115

Minnesota Wild: Kevin Fiala is the only player her that I feel has a good enough ceiling to really warrant high exposure here. Vancouver baring a meltdown should be able to take this series.

5 star plays – none

4 star plays – Kevin Fiala

Cash viable – none

GPP Sleeper – Kevin Fiala

Vancouver Canucks: Tyler Toffoli had the best advanced stats of any player in the exhibition games and Elias Pettersson being his center probably has something to do with that. I like their upside tomorrow and their value is good and partner that with they should be lower owned for such a good line on a small slate.

5 star plays – Tyler Toffoli

4 star plays – Elias Pettersson, JT Miller

Cash viable – Tyler Toffoli, Elias Pettersson

GPP Sleeper – Quinn Hughes

Goalies:

Jacob Markstrom: Markstrom should still see a good amount of shots as Minnesota is not the strongest team in their own zone, but with the Wild lacking real scorers I think these are low quality shots and Markstrom easily walks his way into hitting value.

Frederik Andersen. Heaviest favorite on the slate and I do not see the Maple Leafs blowing this series or game.
