Bristol Motor Speedway – All-Star Race
For the first time, ever Bristol Motor Speedway will take place at Bristol Motor Speedway. This will also be the first ever All-star race to take place on a short track. The race is being moved from its traditional home of Charlotte Motor Speedway. Race winners from 2019-2020, Past All-star race winners, and past Cup Series champions are locked into the race. We will start the evening with the All-Star open which will feature every race team not already locked into the All-Star race. There will be three stages with the winner of each stage advancing to the All-Star race later in the evening. There will also be one driver who wins a fan vote that will make it into the All-Star race from this group. FYI, it should be Bubba Wallace if he doesn’t race his way in.

DraftKings
DraftKings is the only site that covers this race properly. They have every driver in the Open race as questionable. Once we know who the four are that advance to the All-Star race they will be marked as in while the other drivers will be marked as out. Once we get the slate locked in, I like trying to get 6 drivers who will all finish the race, finish top 8 and potentially add some place differential. Not exactly easy to predict but this is what we are shooting for. I am definitely much more interested in Place Differential for DK and will be attacking the drivers who come in from the Open race.
Favorite DK Play: Bubba Wallace
Bubba is actually really good here at Bristol. 10th and 14th in his last two races here. He is taking part in the Open race and is actually good enough to qualify through winning a stage. However, even if he doesn’t, Bubba is a near lock to receive the fan vote spot which will have him starting 20th. This gives him the most place diff points at his disposal and the best floor. He is a pretty clear play in my book. If somehow he doesn’t get into the All-Star race then I will eat these words but I feel pretty confident he makes the race.
FanDuel
I asked on Monday because I figured FD would let us down and sure enough they will. FanDuel are only giving us the 16 drivers locked into the All-Star race. They will not be adding the four drivers who qualify through the Open or fan vote. This really limits the playability of the slate and adds to the likelihood of ties. For this race, we are probably just looking to pick 5 drivers who finish inside the top 5-8. We don’t have to worry about place differential coming into play because the four drivers with the highest upside in that area won’t even be in their player pool. Hamlin and Jones are decent place diff options but the will still need a top 8 finish to be optimal worthy.
Favorite FD Play: Denny Hamlin
Hamlin is good everywhere right now. His speed doesn’t appear to be specific to any particular track type. He will start 12th on the race so even if he never leads but gets into the top 5 he should score really well. I like when top tier drivers can have an easier path to points instead of relying on the to lead like we will with his teammate Kyle Busch.
