Race Info
The penultimate race for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series comes to us form ISM Raceway. We will see the majority of attention on the playoff contenders who are trying to make their way to Homestead to race for a Championship. We do see fairly long green flag runs here especially to start the races here at ISM. This usually would mean long run speed is important but that isn’t as big of a factor. The fastest cars are usually fast lap 1 of a run as well as 5 laps in or 50 laps in. Under this 750 hp high downforce back passing has been incredibly difficult. Track position and pit strategy as a result will likely shake things up in the middle to late stages of the race. Inspection at Phoenix: Cars will be impounded after qualifying at Phoenix on Saturday. The starting lineup is official at the conclusion of qualifying.

Dominator / Top Tier
For this race we will look to play 2-3 dominators. We can definitely expect the pole sitter to have a strong shot at dominating the entire first stage. Once we get into strategy calls and two tires stops we could see a mid race shake up. As for the top contenders to dominate and win we must look at Joe Gibbs Racing drivers. They have absolutely dominated the field under this particular rules package in 2019. They are borderline untouchable. Kyle Busch has won the last two races here and should be considered the favorite. Truex finished 2nd here in the Spring and Hamlin was 5th. All three will be strong this week. Some other drivers to pay attention to are Kyle Larson who was fastest in practice and Kevin Harvick who has won here NINE times.
Mid to Low Tier
All about who can offer the best place differential this week. There are multiple drivers who have succeeded under this 750 hp package this year who should be looked at heavily this week. Matt Dibenedetto is the perfect example of this. There are lots of trends we can look at for this race which is rather straight forward overall.

Punts
Punts will struggle overall here as quality of equipment and mechanical grip is key. With that being said drivers like Ross Chastain have had a history of scoring decent results. Of course when playing punts in races with lots of laps it is usually to be able to afford additional dominators. If this is the case all punts are open to play. We have seen optimal lineups with drivers like Quinn Houff simply because he was able to be paired with the right dominators.
