Race Info
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is in New Hampshire Motor Speedway this week. NHMS is a flat 1 mile track that runs fairly single file with only one main groove. Due to this NASCAR and the track operators have decided to put the PJ1 traction compound down in the upper grooves to try and get some side by side racing through the field. Track position will be at a premium gain this week. However, unlike last week really good cars can make a difference and drive their way through the field. New Hampshire loves to bore us with long green flag runs making long run speed incredibly important. Unlike most tracks starting position here isn’t a big factor. In the last 12 races the eventual race winner started inside the top 5 only twice.

Lineup Building
Dominator / Top Tier
Most lineups should look to play 2-3 dominators. There could be some strategy plays with 2 tires on pit stops or if we get cautions mixed in between stages drivers pitting early and staying out at stage break. This will be what helps mix up the lap leaders through out the race. There is a very good chance of Keselowski dominating early stage much like Kurt Busch did from the pole last year. Other than that the Gibbs cars should be the elite and strong contenders to dominate. Gibbs has won 5 of the last 7 New Hampshire races while also dominating the two they didn’t win. Harvick won the other 2 laps while leading a grand total of 20 laps. The DFSArmy Research station is the best place to find past track history as well as recent history on a particular track type.
The level of domination the DFSArmy has experienced this year in NASCAR has been unbelievable. Our VIP Slack was filled with winners thanks to the hard work of all the NASCAR coaches. Mid to Low Tier
New Hampshire can be a solid place for drivers like Almirola, Bowyer and Jones to really shine. Hamlin and Bowman will see tons of ownership considering where they start. Playing some of these other drivers who can potentially grab some dom points and a top 5 could be the key to differentiating your lineups from everyone else. Guys like Austin Dillon, Newman, Buescher, Byron etc. who can move forward and finish top 10-15 are going to be vital! Lots of good options this week makes it a more open slate than normal.
Punts
Punts are going to have very little upside this week. Only way for any of these guys to really pay off would be if there were a lot of DNFs. The drivers are simply not wrecking as much this year so this is not something I would really expect. It might be worth using punts simply to afford multiple top end drivers who will collect tons of dom points. Wouldn’t be the craziest thing considering the amount of laps this race has.
