Arena Football! Draftkings AFL DFS Picks Plays and Strategy 4/26/19

Football is back ladies and gentleman, not only the only NFL draft but Arena Football is available for DFS. DFS Army is going to do what we do best by providing articles and coaches notes for AFL as well as all the other sports in the DFS world. We take pride in seeing all of our members succeed in every sport, as our coaches steer our members to the top of the leaderboards. For those who do not follow Arena Football, the league added two more teams this offseason. The Atlantic City Blackjacks as well as bringing back the Colombus Destroyers. What should we look at for DFS purposes? What positions should we be rostering? Best way to play cash games? All of these questions and much more will be answered right below.

Building a Foundation for AFL DFS

Here is a stat for you, last Arena Football season only 3 games out of the 29 that were played had a total at or below 70 points scored. Draftkings presented us with a showdown style lineup construction format for the full 3 game slate. If you are already familiar with how the scoring works for NFL daily fantasy sports, it is exactly the same here. You will need to roster 1 captain, this player will have not only their salary multiplied by 1.5x, but their points will be multiplied by 1.5 as well. The captain is the most important part of the lineup that you need to get right. Every slate is different and that can be said for all daily fantasy sports. Knowing whether to use a value play or a stud in your captain spot will be the difference maker.

As round 1 of the NBA playoffs is at its end, nothing changes here at DFS Army as another member takes home a gpp.

Arena Football Positions To Roster

Quarterback– This is the most important position to get right in your lineups. Arena Football thrives on scoring and the quarterbacks in this league do most, if not all of the scoring for their teams. This league is unlike any other football league, where we will see endless amounts of scoring. Quarterbacks will score anywhere between 3-7 touchdowns per game. Having multiple QB’s in your lineup will be a must for both cash and gpp purposes.

Fullback– In the big picture, this position is not used much if at all. However, as pricing develops throughout the season, I can see a full back winning us a gpp. Generally, it is going to be the quarterback scoring a rushing touchdown, but on occasion, a fullback will too. Outside of a large gpp with over 100 entries allowed, I would not roster a fullback at least for the time being.

Wide Receiver– This is the spot that if you nail, will win you a tournament. Outside of a couple of receivers, I would not use these players in my cash lineup. This is because every quarterback in this league has an extremely high floor and should get you 20-25 points at least. There should be multiple weeks this season where you will need at least 1 WR in your lineup. Especially in the captain position because it does not take much for a WR to surpass a QB in points. Some of these receivers will have 3-4 touchdown ceilings and there will be times when those players have those games.

Kicker– For your bankroll, do not play a kicker. Yes, they will have a floor of around 5 points, but there are much better value plays than rostering a kicker. There are cheaper plays that will be on my spreadsheet that should easily outscore any kicker on this slate.

AFL Players To Build Around

Tommy Grady– What else is there to say about a quarterback that threw 81 touchdowns last season. He is not even the top priced player as well. This guy will be throwing the ball all game long and he is one of the safest players to roster on this slate. Grady will be in the majority of my lineups and will be a core play on my spreadsheet. For non-VIP members, this is a freebie. In order to see the rest of my core play, you need to become a member to do so. My spreadsheet will also show my confidence rating for each play and if they are cash and gpp viable.

B. Thompkins– Here is another player who is underpriced for the amount of production he had last season. Thompkins had 90 catches for 878 yards to go with his 21 total touchdowns last season. In fact, he had at least one touchdown in every game last season. Thompkins is a great play on this slate as he has a decent floor, with a lot of upside at a great price. He is also the kick return specialist and is one of the best in the league.

Dan Raudabaugh– Over the course of last season, Raudabaugh threw 47 touchdown passes. Like all quarterbacks in this league, he is a safe play this weekend. He had the 2nd best QB rating last season and was only behind Tommy Grady. Playing against an expansion team could help him score more fantasy points than normal. This is why he is in this list, His floor and ceiling should be raised given the matchup. He is 1k cheaper than Grady and should offer a similar floor and ceiling this weekend.

Final Words of Wisdom

If you are not a VIP member, click that link above and join the best DFS site there is in the industry. We thrive on teaching our members how to become better players. At DFS Army we give our community all of the tools that the coaches use in order to be successful. Turning the average Joe into a DFS pro is what we do best. Our chat service is where we come together as a community and is where members get first-hand learning from all of our coaches. Pertaining to this slate, the best lineup possible will not be made in my opinion. With that being said, all of the scoring will be entertaining to watch and the sweat will go until Saturday night. This slate is two days long and some of the best plays are in that final “hammer” game. So do not put all of your eggs into that first game because it might not end up so well after Saturday night comes. Good luck to everyone playing and for our members feel free to tag me with any questions that you have.
