Good morning to you beautiful people out there in DFS land! You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army. I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2018-2019 CBB season! Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play. Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings and Fanduel. The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.
Wake Forest (68) vs Miami (74)
Notre Dame (64) vs Georgia Tech (63)
Pittsburgh (69) vs Boston College (68) – FD Only

We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.
WAKE FOREST vs MIAMI
I will start out here by saying this slate is going to be frustrating as the teams involved just are not good at all. For Wake, we know that they should be able to attack Miami with 3-point shooting, defensive rebounds, and assists. Miami isn’t elite at defending the 2 but teams have really attacked them via the 3. In the two match-ups during the season, Childress and Brown were knocking down shots and Hoard was grabbing boards. I kind of seeing it play out that way today. Honestly, those are the 3 guys I would consider in this spot. You could look at Smart as it looks like Starr is going to be out yet again. I am not a fan of anybody else even though I suppose guys like Mucius and Wright Jr could be in as a last-man-in type of play.
Miami is going to be able to attack Wake all over the floor, along with all of the peripherals. The big thing is are either of these teams good enough to truly attack the others’ weaknesses? The top plays for me are Lykes and Lawrence as Lawrence has been really picking up his play over the last month. Izundu makes sense for GPP play but construction has me thinking I will end up fading him and hoping the other two guys above do all the work. Zach Johnson is one I had targeted earlier in the season but he has slowed down a bit. He hasn’t shown great upside for a while now so I feel like we can comfortably look elsewhere. Vasiljevic is an excellent GPP play on DK as he is taking a bunch of shots right now and the three-point bonus is always a nice thing.
Preferred Plays: C.Brown, Lykes, Lawrence
NOTRE DAME vs GEORGIA TECH
Happy John Mooney bounceback day! Notre Dame is extremely shorthanded which is a gold mine for DFS purposes. Mooney is just a beast and a double-double machine and gets a match-up against a team that is horrible at grabbing rebounds. Gibbs has been really bad of late but he does possess upside and he is going to be very low owned, so he does make sense has a GPP play. Hubb is going to be popular and while I can’t argue against having shares, I worry about his shooting. He isn’t a good shooter but he has shown upside on the road in recent games. Lazsewski and Goodwin are going to garner a bunch of ownership due to their price tags and recent upside. I worry that Lazsewski is going to be popular based on the last game only. His minutes are solidified with the loss of Harvey so he makes sense but I think last game was his ceiling.
The way for GT to attack ND is in the paint and on the boards (Mooney is basically the only rebounder). Those two things set Banks III up to offer tremendous upside in this spot. Alvarado, Devoe, and Wright are guys that I want to have a decent amount of exposure to as well. GT is playing a pretty tight rotation as well. K.Moore is cheap enough that he could make sense for us if he is in the starting lineup again as $3300 (DK) for a guy getting 30+ minutes is hard to pass on, even if he doesn’t do a ton on the floor.
Preferred Plays: Mooney, Banks III, Wright
PITTSBURGH vs BOSTON COLLEGE – FD Only
Being part of an FD early slate, this game is going to suck for us to try and figure out with them not having late-swap. Pittsburgh is a young team that has upside but overall they are just not very good. Johnson is their best player and has tremendous upside but went 3-19 against BC the first time. My preferred play is going to be Wilson-Frame as he has been under the radar for much of the season and offers a solid shooting ability. McGowens is a GPP play because he has gone for 50+ a couple of times this season but really hit a wall midway through conference play. Sidy N’Dir and Toney kind of rotate playing minutes so its a guessing game as to which one it will be, so for that reason I am looking at playing neither of them. Chukwuka has wrestled minutes away from T.Brown and he makes an interesting GPP flyer/punt play on this slate. Ellison suffered a concussion in the last half of conference play and hasn’t really gotten back to the way he was playing prior to that happening.
For Boston College, we have to play the guessing game with the injuries they are dealing with. We need to learn the statuses of Jared Hamilton, Wynston Tabbs, and Nik Popovic. Right now I am operating as if Jared Hamilton and Tabbs will be out and that Popovic will return (I read that he took part in practice yesterday). We know that Pittsburgh gets absolutely demolished by 3’s, FT’s, assists, blocks, and offensive rebounds. Those categories plus the possibility of Popovic being limited has me very interested in S.Mitchell. If we could get a game from him where he takes 10-12 shots from the field, I would say he’d put up a monster stat line. Bowman is the top play from BC as he does it all for them and will be leaned on to advance in the conference tourney. Chatman makes a ton of sense for GPPs as he takes a bunch of threes and shoots it extremely well from the FT line. I have to leave Popovic as a GPP only dart play without knowing more about his knee. I think Jairus Hamilton is a solid GPP play as he should see minutes no matter what.
Preferred Plays: Wilson-Frame, S.Mitchell, Bowman
DK SHOWDOWN SLATE: NOTRE DAME vs GEORGIA TECH
I think this showdown is somewhat straight forward. With the pricing the way it is, I think that the CAPTAIN spot is obviously Mooney. I think you can use Alvarado or Banks III in that spot as well if you wanted. Goodwin is the cheapest UTIL guy that I would go and then I would skip over Alston and Gueye and go up to Wright. My initial builds tend to end up having 4 GT and 2 ND players. I do not necessarily like that in what is expected to be a close game, so I will have to tinker some more. Stay tuned to the chat as I discuss it more in the CBB channel!
Make sure you tune in to the slack channel to get my updates as news comes out! We will be discussing CBB all afternoon and evening long. I will be updating my Coaches-Notes throughout the day and we will discuss what injuries we need to monitor and what they mean to our construction. I will also be posting my cores for each site in slack!
