DFS College Basketball Game Notes For Draftkings and Fanduel 3/10/2019

Good morning to you beautiful people out there in DFS land!  You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army.  I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2018-2019 CBB season!  Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play.  Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings and Fanduel.  The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.

Rutgers (61) vs Indiana (68)
Houston (63) vs Cincinnati (64)
Illinois (69) vs Penn St (77)
Iowa (74) vs Nebraska (77)
SMU (65) vs South Florida (70)
Wisconsin (61) vs Ohio St (59)
UCONN (74) vs ECU (67) – DK Only

College basketball hasn’t been back that long, and we have the coaches teaching!  Save yourself time and energy by letting us do the work.  And, if you want to see a real track record of success, stop by our Wall of Wins page to see what we’ve done in NFL, NBA, and MLB recently.  We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.

RUTGERS vs INDIANA

Surprisingly, I have a ton of interest in Rutgers players in a pace-up spot.  I am going to have shares of Omoruyi, Baker, M.Johnson, Harper JR, and McConnell as Rutgers has really tightened its rotation.  I am confident in attacking Indiana with everybody as they just aren’t that great on the defensive end.  Of the 5 guys I listed, M.Johnson is probably the one that I feel the weakest about.  He offers upside but is not guaranteed production.

If you are a believer in Senior Day narratives then Morgan is somebody you are going to want to target.  I think he is safe for cash games but I worry about having the upside taken away from him due to the price tag.  I really like a few guys outside of Morgan as Langford torched Rutgers earlier and Phinisee has been playing really well.  Smith and D.Green have also been playing really well so they are definitely in play for GPPs.  I also think D.Davis and Durham fit the GPP criteria here.  This makes it really tough to pinpoint who we want to get shares of for Indiana.

Preferred Plays:  Harper Jr, McConnell, Langford, Phinisee

HOUSTON vs CINCINNATI

This game would normally be one we gladly avoid, however, this slate isn’t exactly all that exciting.  For Houston, I do not mind Davis Jr for cash games and guys like Jarreau, Hinton, White Jr, and Brady as GPP options.  While they aren’t overly exciting options, I do not mind them if they are the last man into your lineup, around a bunch of guys you feel great about.

I really like Cumberland as a GPP play in a tough match-up as he may not be efficient in getting there but he has the upside to go for 40+ on a slate where we need to lock in the points when we get a chance to.  I think Scott, Williams, Brooks, and Jenifer all fit into the GPP category as they offer something that has had success against Houston but they just don’t do it consistently.  Jenifer is probably my favorite thanks to his three-point shooting and it’s Senior Day.

Preferred Plays:  Jenifer

ILLINOIS vs PENN ST

For Illinois, it is all about Bezhanishvili and Dosunmu.  They are basically the only ones being aggressive on offense right now.  I think you can consider using Feliz as a GPP play but his price has come up a bit.  I may end up with zero Illinois exposure as I generally do not like to target them when they are on the road.

I am going to have a ton of exposure to two guys on Penn St.  Those two are Stevens and Reaves.  Stevens might end up my top play on the entire slate while Reaves has been extremely safe of late and will be taking part in Senior Day.  If you could guarantee me that Watkins sees 25+ minutes in this game, I would have a TON of exposure to him as well.  He went for 41 fantasy points in the first match-up.  The rest of PSU is just blah for me in this spot.

Preferred Plays: Stevens, Reaves

IOWA vs NEBRASKA

I was hoping to find some Iowa plays that I wanted to lock in but I just can’t find any that I feel like are must haves in this spot.  Cook normally would be that guy but he’s been pretty plain recently and Garza has been pretty bad.  Bohannon seems like the best option as Nebraska can get torched by the 3 but that price is higher than I am comfortable with.  Moss or N.Baer could be the one that goes off in this spot and they make a ton of sense for me for our GPP lineups.  Wieskamp is super talented but can be non-existent at times.

Palmer Jr seems like the ideal Senior Day narrative guy as he already has monster usage so we do not have to rely on him taking even more shots.  I really like the spot for Roby as I have loved taking bigs against Iowa this season and have rarely been disappointed.  Watson Jr makes sense for GPPs as he is coming off of a very strong game.  If T.Allen is ruled out then A.Harris becomes a very strong punt play at just $3200 on DK and $3900 on FD.  It is Senior Day for Borchardt and I could see him putting up a 10 and 10 type, out-of-nowhere, a double-double in this spot (Or he could foul out in 8 minutes).

Preferred Plays:  Palmer Jr, Roby

SMU vs SOUTH FLORIDA

I assume that Whitt Jr is going to be out again for SMU and that opens up McMurray to do a lot for them.  SMU is playing with a pretty tight rotation with one of those players being on a minutes limit (Foster).  I really like using Mike and Chargois because of their upside.  I would consider guys like Hunt and Douglas as well.  Douglas would get a minutes boost if Whitt does miss this game.

We need to learn the status of Rideau before we can really attack this team.  Rideau missed last game so if he misses again, Collins will see a usage bump and Castaneda would slide into the starting lineup.  I think Yetna makes sense for GPP purposes as he has monster upside while Rideau would definitely be in play should he be in the lineup.  Castaneda would be a cash play without much upside if he starts.  Justin Brown saw a big usage jump in Rideau’s absence so we would need to consider him as well.

Preferred Plays:  McMurray, Collins

WISCONSIN vs OHIO ST

This is a spot for Happ to absolutely dominate.  He should be able to do what he wants in the paint against a team missing their best big man.  Reuvers has been a ton better on the road this season so he is somebody that I am going to have GPP exposure to.  Trice or Davison could get hot from three but I don’t have a ton of confidence.  I really like the way that Iverson is playing right now and feel like he might be cash safe tomorrow.

Most of Ohio St is up in the air as the rotation has really been impossible to pinpoint.  I think guys like A.Wesson, Washington Jr, Ahrens, Young, and LeDee are all GPP options but I just do not know where to go.  LeDee has the upside but he is super raw and randomly only played 5 minutes last game after starting the game prior.  I think A.Wesson is where I lean for OSU.  Ahrens has the upside and is still pretty cheap so he makes an interesting flyer.

Preferred Plays:  Happ, Iverson, A.Wesson

UCONN vs ECU – DK Only

With UCONN being without J. Adams and Gilbert we have to almost lock in Vital in this spot.  He is going to be tasked with doing everything for this offense so his hands are going to be on the ball a ton.  Carlton saw a big price jump but he is still very much a strong play in this spot as his usage should jump, even against a tougher player in Gardner/LeDay.  The rest of UCONN becomes a dart play as I think any of the guys projected to get minutes could return solid value, it’s just a matter of who?

Fleming has been a beast of late for ECU so we have to consider him a very strong play with Gardner being and interesting GPP option.  Sounds like Seth LeDay tore his ACL so that brings Quinton in as a near lock on this slate.  He is just $3400 and is coming off of a very strong performance.  I do not know much about him but I will take my chances with an F getting over 30 minutes at that price point.  I would consider using S.Williams in GPPs thanks to his shooting ability.

Preferred Plays:  Vital, Carlton, Fleming, Quinton
