DFS n’ Donuts Shop – NBA DFS Picks for FantasyDraft on Friday, December 21st

The DFS n’ Donuts Shop

The modus operandi of the majority of my articles and podcasts is to deliver compelling evidence through analytics, trends, and useful data as to why a player or team is an ideal target to invest in. This article is slightly different than what you’ll see in most of my articles. In this weekly column, I will provide a light breakdown of the slate, give a brief overview of what Vegas has to say about the current week of games and highlight a few significant values based on some analytical data. This article is an early overview of the main slate and should be used as a building block and guideline to develop your strategies and start to envision possible paths to victory.

Salute to the Member Success

A massive GET SOME to a brand new member who won $200,000 in the FanDuel Milly Maker in his first week as a member of the DFS Army! Kudos to a few of our NBA member wins from this week as well including a $100,000 winner in NFL and a $100,000 winner in NBA, in addition to a $76,000 win by a staff member!

Our members and coaches create a type of bond that goes beyond fantasy sports discussion and DFS coaching. Often you’ll find members and staff sharing conversations about life in general, sports, family, work, stressors, and testimonies. It’s a really unique community and one that drove me to leave every other company I was working for at the time to focus on this one. We’ve already had a $200,000 winner in 2018 and our “Member Hall of Fame” is littered with results from the 2017 and current 2018 NFL season. I hope that we as a company and community, are able to change the life of a player or even potentially an entire family!

Kevin Knox ($11,600): He has a delectable matchup against the fast-paced and sloppy Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. Knox has played more than 32 minutes in five straight games and is locked into a heavy workload no matter who’s active on the roster on any given night. He has scored 15 actual points or more in 6 straight games and has had a usage rate over 22.0% in 3 of the last 5. You can ping-pong stack this game with opposing forward, John Collins ($14,100). He has been electric as of late, scoring 37.25 FantasyDraft points or more in 7 of the last 8. The Knicks don’t represent an imposing force and struggle against opposing bigs who can score the basketball. Collins has taken 16.6 field goal attempts per game over the last six games and has turned into the primary scoring option for the Hawks.

Jrue Holiday ($16,600): There is a chance that Julius Randle, Anthony Davis, and Nikola Mirotic end up all missing this game. While some might think blowout factor is in play, I am not quite sure if the Lakers have the defense necessary to blow anybody out. If you are concerned about the issue of shortened minutes for Jrue then feel free to fade him, it’s a big slate and you’ll like be A-Okay if you do so. If it is a concern and you want exposure, simply stack the other side and use two or three Lakers with the game theory that the game is high scoring and competitive. The end result would be a monster score from Jrue who likely did the heavy lifting to keep the Pelicans in the game and quality outings from the Lakers key players.

Jahlil Okafor ($6,300): In just 13 minutes of play last game when Anthony Davis went into the locker room with an ankle sprain, Okafor exploded by scoring 17 actual points and finished with just under 25 FantasyDraft points. His usage rate was an astonishing 35.9% in those 13 minutes. Is that sustainable? Absolutely not. However, if the aforementioned bigs are all missing in action on Friday, Jahlil is a stone cold lock for this slate – with or without any other Pelicans.

LeBron James ($19,200): After playing 4 road games in 6 nights, LeBron returns to LA to face the Pelicans and has not played since December 18th. A nice couple of days off in the friendly confines of his home and team facilities means that he should be well rested for this matchup with the visiting Walking Dead…err, Pelicans. James has shown off his massive ceiling as of late, scoring over 61.00 FantasyDraft points in 6 of the last 10 games. The Pelicans don’t have a warm body that can matchup with him and might be missing three of their front court options. James should be able to bully his way to a high scoring day and if the game ends up being a blowout then I am assuming James got his prior to hitting the bench.

Mike Conley ($14,800): Prior to missing the last game with an injury, Conley has scored 22 or more actual points in 4 straight games and 40.00 or more FantasyDraft points in 3 of the last 4 games. The matchup with the Sacramento Kings doesn’t get any better, as the Kings as top-5 in the league in pace and points allowed per game. Memphis has a 105.5 implied point total, which in the scope of the slate isn’t that high. However, the Grizz play so slow and normally have ITT’s that are in the high 90’s and barely clear 100 points. This is a massive increase for them and the Grizz will lean on Conley to score the orange. He will be owned extremely low due to his price point with many either going up to the higher end point guards or dipping down a little and using De’Aaron Fox, Derrick Rose, or Kris Dunn. His awkward pricing makes him my preferred GPP pick for large field tournaments.

I want to suggest to any members of the DFSA to check out this How to Make MME Lineups in 5 Minutes article that I wrote for our VIP members. It’s full of photos, examples, and an easy to follow outline. If you’re trying to grow your bankroll and MME then you need to give this brief read a moment of attention.
