WISCONSIN vs XAVIER
Being a Wisconsin fan and a resident of the state, I am both excited and afraid to be rostering some of the Badger players. I see a lot of the good things they do and it intrigues me from a fantasy standpoint, however, then I realize how the system is not necessarily geared toward putting out monster statistical lines. Ethan Happ is such a unique player at the CBB level that he is always going to be in play. He is coming off of the second triple-double in Wisconsin history. Davison is one of my favorite players in CBB at this point, however, I do not know that he offers enough upside to pay $6000. I do have interest in 4 other Badgers for GPP play as this game should be pretty tight and lead to them getting their minutes. The 4 guys are Khalil Iverson, Brevin Prtizl, Nate Reuvers, and Kobe King. My preferred will be Reuvers and King. I think Reuvers takes a big step forward this season and King is a former top recruit in the state of WI.
Xavier is going to be a little tricky to figure out as Quentin Goodin returned last game to play 15 minutes and there is a pretty good chance he slides back into the starting lineup for this game. Goodin is my top play for the Musketeers and he is followed by Paul Scruggs and Naji Marshall. Zach Hankins interests me because I have a feeling that either Welage or Tyrique Jones find themselves in foul trouble early on. If we find out that Goodin is still limited in terms of minutes, then I may move him away from being my top play and will consider him an average GPP play at that point.
GEORGIA vs TEMPLE
This game is giving me fits as I try to figure out what kind of a rotation Georgia will be playing. Over the years we have learned that Tom Crean is fairly unpredictable. I actually prefer to use this game on FD as opposed to using it on DK as I think the pricing is easier to attack there. Georgia used a pretty large rotation in exhibition play and then followed it up with a large rotation in an easy win. I think a number of guys on Georgia are in play for GPP action, however, I just can’t find much to like for cash. Claxton is a fine play at $6500 on FD, while I think Hammonds, Hightower, and Ogbeide are very good plays to plug into your GPP lineups. In fact, Ogbeide might be my favorite play based on his ability down low. He has the upside, however his floor is down there due to foul trouble. Crump is a guy that stands out, however, he relies a ton on making shots from the outside.
Temple is quite a bit easier to figure out as your exposure on most slates should be limited to basically 4 players. For this slate, I think we can eliminate Alston because I think he’s priced just way too high. That leaves Rose, Pierre-Louis, and Perry as the options for us to look at sliding in. All three stand out on FD, more so than on DK and I love seeing Rose at less than $6K. He is arguably the best player for Temple and I will look to get a decent chunk of exposure here.
MEMPHIS vs LSU
This game should be full of fantasy goodness as it is easily the highest projected total out of our options. Memphis’ rotation is going to be a question mark as it sounds like Mike Parks Jr will be returning after missing the exhibition games as well as the season opener. The first name that instantly stands out to me on FD is Tyler Harris. Harris is a talented freshman, who is in the starting lineup. He is coming off of a rough debut, however, he managed to put up 41 game points in the two exhibition contests. I like another Memphis freshman, Alex Lomax, as well in this contest. He stuffs the stat sheet across the board and seems to have a pretty safe floor. When it comes to the pricier options for Memphis, I really only have interest in Kyvon Davenport. He is coming off of a monster game and while I realize that it might be chasing, Coach Hardaway had said coming into the season that they expect big things out of Davenport this season.
When it comes to LSU, I have interest in a few plays and will be using them on the site in which they are cheaper. The studs, Tremont Waters and Naz Reid, are very much in play tonight. The other two that I have interest in are very much site-specific as Emmitt Williams is $1000 cheaper on FD, while Ja’vonte Smart is $1500 cheaper on DK. Darius Days is an interesting GPP play on DK at just $4300 should you think he sees some extra minutes tonight.

GEORGIA TECH vs TENNESSEE
Georgia Tech players interest me more on DK tonight as they seem to be priced slightly too high on FD for my liking. There is a narrative in this game tonight for a GT player, as Shembari Phillips is a former Volunteer who transferred away after the 2016-17 season. There may be a bit of extra motivation for Phillips tonight. A few other players that intrigue me for GT are Curtis Haywood, Abdoulaye Gueye, and Sylvester Ogbonda. The two big men are intriguing, however, both come with risk based on foul trouble. A GPP flyer on DK is Brandon Alston.
Tennessee runs a pretty solid and tight rotation which is positive for us. The negative comes from that rotation being very balanced. Grant Williams is the top dog and will be in play nearly every night and tonight is no exception. I really like Kyle Alexander at $5700 and Yves Pons at $4300 on FD. I prefer Jordan Bowden and Jordan Bone on DK for tonight’s slate. One last note, should things change and Lamont Turner ends up making his return tonight, he is a lock at $3000 on FD. Right now he is very doubtful to play.
STEPHEN F AUSTIN vs MIAMI
Seeing Stephen F Austin on the slate and not being able to use Thomas Walkup just seems odd to me. Walkup was one of my favorite guys to watch in CBB. The usage for this team rolls through just two players, Harris and Bogues. I think both are usable GPP options, however, I am not overly excited to slide them in at those price points. I do have some GPP interest in Bain, Seraille, and Nicholas. I think any of those 3 can slide in GPP lineups without hurting you too much.
Anthony Lawrence is extremely athletic and he showed his upside in the first game of the season for the Hurricanes. I think he makes a great GPP play at $8700 as he should go overlooked in comparison to other studs on the slate. I really like Chris Lykes in all formats and feel like as the second option on this team he should be priced a bit higher than $5900. Izundu and Vasiljevic are a couple of guys that I will consider for GPPs, however, they aren’t guys I am hurrying to slam into my lineups. One last name is Zach Johnson, he will be basically 0% owned and most likely for good reason as he is coming off of the bench at $7200. He is somebody I was excited to see more of as a transfer from FGCU.
HOLY CROSS vs PROVIDENCE
Holy Cross didn’t put up much of a fight against Michigan, and while Providence is not quite Michigan, they aren’t some terrible school. The only name I am considering is Austin Butler at $6100. His usage will be there and he is coming off of a 1-13 shooting performance after going 10-13 in game 1 of the season.
Alpha Diallo is the top dog for Providence and while I find it really hard to swallow an $11000 price tag, I think you need to consider putting him into your lineups tonight. I think Jackson is a little too high priced and Reeves falls under a GPP play because of his dependence on scoring game points. I do have some interest in David Duke for GPPs at just $4400.
DRAKE vs COLORADO
Drake is comprised of a number of GPP only options in my eyes. They are coming off of a game against a non-D1 opponent to begin the season so all of the numbers are skewed a bit as the bench put up a ton of points. Early in the season, I will always lean towards the best players until we get more info on how things shake out and the top three for Drake are McGlynn, Norton, and T.Murphy. I have a GPP interest in Brady Ellingson. He is a transfer from Iowa and started in both the exhibition game and the season opener. He is a very good 3 point shooter and could easily find himself getting hot.
This is the first game of the season for Colorado so that makes things a little tough in terms of trying to predict things. Wright’s price point is just way too high for this one and I will easily have 0 exposure to him. I do have an interest in Tyler Bey at $5700 as he put up a double-double in a closer than expected exhibition game. Unless I find out that Evan Battey isn’t starting, I will be locking him in at just $3200 in this game. He started and put up 10 shots in the exhibition game.
HAMPTON vs CALIFORNIA
Not a lot to like with Hampton as they don’t really offer much in terms of firepower or value. Marrow is their top dog, however, I do not want to pay $8200 at this slate for him. I could be talked into Fisher as an uninspiring cash option as the last man in around $5300. A deep GPP play at $3100 is Dondre Griffin as he averaged more than 11 points per game last season.
I do not think California is a very good team as they have dealt with early entrants to the NBA as well as transfers taking off after Cuonzo Martin left for Missouri. Andre Kelly at $3900 seems to be a lock for me in all of my lineups. He started both the exhibition and the season-opening loss to Yale. Austin, Sueing and McNeill are all uninspiring GPP options as they get the usage and can get hot from the field. Austin is probably my favorite of that trio.
