Appalachian St (66)
It’s extremely tough to get a read on App St after they put up 125 points in a 63 point victory to begin the season. Minutes were pretty spread out due to the blowout so we are going to have to make some guesses as to where to go on this team. If we base purely off of the first game, the only guy I have interest in is Justin Forrest at $5900, but that is purely just box score watching. Alabama should be able to dominate the paint in this match-up, so I expect the Guards of App St to be the ones that need to keep it close.
Alabama (80)
Alabama basically played an 8 man rotation in the first game of the season and while that normally would give us an idea of what the rotation would be like for today, there is a chance that Dazon Ingram returns from an ankle issue. If we get word that Ingram is out yet, I will want exposure to Donta Hall and John Petty. Should Ingram play, I think I will limit my exposure to just Hall for the Tide. I certainly can be talked into some Tevin Mack and Herbert Jones.
Florida St (84)
Florida St as a team was extremely impressive against Florida to begin the season. From a DFS standpoint, they seemed to be ok sharing the ball and nobody really stood out. When teams play a true team type game I try to go with the best players on the team and those two players are Mann and Forrest. Both players offer GPP upside due to their ability to fill the stat sheet. I was very impressed by MJ Walker and PJSavoy in the first game and would consider both very solid GPP options.
Tulane (70)
This is Tulane’s first game of the 2018-19 season so we have very little to go off of in regards to a team that has 5 new members to its roster. It sounds as if Ona Embo will miss this game for the Green Wave. Basing my thoughts purely off of the exhibition game that the head coach was not pleased about, I will be having exposure to Caleb Daniels, who managed a double-double in that exhibition game, Moses Wood, and Connor Crabtree. Wood and Crabtree offer value price points as they are $3700 and $3100 respectively.
Nicholls (71)
I am intrigued by Nicholls in this game as I do not think very highly of Washington St and Nicholls managed to open my eyes a little bit in a battle with Louisville. The usage for this team flows through Jefferson, Peppers, and Johnson. I do have interest in Moore coming off of the bench as well. If I had to order them for GPP purposes I would go, Jefferson, Johnson, Moore, and then Peppers.
Washington St (80)
I have already mentioned that I do not consider this Washington St team to be very good. This is the first game of the season for the Cougars after playing in an exhibition game that saw them win 138-63. We basically can take the box score of that game and rip it up as the bench played more minutes which lead to them all having higher usage rates. Robert Franks is by far their best player but that price tag is insanely high. I would much rather go balanced than to use him at that price point. The two Cougars that I have interest in are CJ Elleby at just $3500 and Jervae Robinson at $5100.
Vanderbilt (72)
The Commodores are lead by a couple of stud freshman in Darius Garland and Simi Shittu. Both guys are very much in play for me in this game as I think this game will be extremely tight the entire way through. I will also be using Saben Lee and Joe Toye as interesting GPP pivots off of the two talented freshmen as a way to leverage my exposure to Vandy. I think I would rank them, in terms of GPP exposure wanted, as Garland-Lee-Shittu-Toye.
USC (77)
We need to find news on whether Bennie Boatwright will be returning for this game or if he is still out while he recovers from knee surgery. Should Boatwright be out for this one, I will have exposure to 4 Trojan players. My preferred play is Shaqquon Aaron, with Rakocevic, Porter, and Mathews following behind him. Rakocevic will be needed to battle against Shittu in the paint and I love his double-double upside, even if I think his price is a tad high. Porter is an extremely talented freshman for the Trojans and I think he will be overlooked as a solid GPP play.
There you have it ladies and gents, the main slate for DK. Let’s make sure we keep attacking the GPPs so that the site has a reason to bring back the bigger prize pools for us to take down! Best of luck and I hope to see you guys at the top!
