CBB Rundown; Saturday November 10th (Early Slate to start)

Well hello, you beautiful people!  Welcome to the first of hopefully many College Basketball articles this season.  I can not begin to explain how pumped I am to have CBB DFS back in our lives, nor can I explain just how excited I am to be providing content for DFS Army.  I will be starting out with the early slate on DK today and will be adding the main, evening slate later.  Let’s take a look at the game options and see where we should look to attack.

The three games that make up the early slate on DK are:

Wyoming @ Oregon St

Bethune Cookman @ Marquette

Central Connecticut St @ Georgetown

As the season strolls on I will be focusing on just finding some studs and values for you to be considering, however with this being a smaller slate I will give a little rundown of each game/team.

Wyoming (Proj Total 66.5)-  This team is in a pretty suboptimal situation as they have been smacked with a couple injuries.  The first game of the season they basically played 6 men and 1 of those left early after taking a shot to the nose.  Thompson is unlikely to play for Wyoming due to a concussion, which basically leaves them with 5 men playing 35+ minutes a piece.  Justin James is going to have ridiculous usage and is priced appropriately for said usage.  I think the best two options to hit up for value are Austin Mueller and Jake Hendricks, both sitting at $4200 on DK.  I am not really on Maldonado at his price point today, however, he probably ends up with the second highest usage rate on the team.  If you wanted to take a shot at an out there GPP play from this team, I would assume that AJ Banks at 3300 is going to have to play some minutes.

Oregon St (Proj Total 76.5)-  Pretty tight rotation to begin the season for the Beavers as 4 guys played 31+ minutes and 2 others combined to play the 40 minutes at one position.  This offense is pretty easy to figure out as Tres Tinkle is the alpha, while Stephen Thompson Jr and Ethan Thompson are 2A and 2B.  You can’t go wrong looking at any of the 3.  My exposure to Oregon St will probably come from the $4,600 Gligorije Rakocevic (yes I had to look multiple times at the spelling).  He did play just 23 minutes in the first game, however, with the Wyoming frontcourt injuries, I expect Oregon St to absolutely dominate the glass in this matchup.

Bethune Cookman (Proj Total 67)-  The projected total is courtesy of KenPom and not Vegas.  BC played a wider rotation in game 1 than the above teams, but that may have been due to early foul issues for Diakite and Davis.  Isaiah Bailey was locked into my lineups the other day and he definitely disappointed me, however, I AM going back to the well today as I just can’t stay away from high usage combo guards.  Malik Maitland is a player that interests me in the mid-range because of the nature of this slate.  He fired up 8 three-point attempts in game 1 of the season.  The aforementioned Diakite and Davis are both GPP options for me as Marquette has traditionally struggled in the paint and can be dominated on the offensive glass.  I will have some shares of Cletrell Pope at $3800.

Marquette (Proj Total 91)-  The projected total is courtesy of KenPom and not Vegas.  Marquette spread out the minutes in game 1 as 8 guys saw 15+ minutes, with only 3 playing 29 or more.  Ed Morrow basically played his way out of the rotation in the first few minutes of the game and finished with a whole 6 minutes of court time.  This is something that shocked me as Morrow is an important transfer for Marquette and a much-needed infusion of defense and rebounding.  I want exposure to him from a GPP sense because I can see a bounce-back spot after a lackluster showing in game 1.  I love watching Markus Howard play ball, however, I just cannot pay that price tag for him.  The price tag on Sam Hauser is a bit shocking as well and most likely will not have any shares, even though I am a big fan of his game (and he is on my CBB dynasty squad).  Each of John, Anim, J.Hauser, Cain, Bailey, and Chartouny are GPP possible fill-ins to your lineup as I just do not know which way the game will go in a blowout.  I think Anim is my preferred option from that group.

Central Connecticut St (Proj Total 63)-  The projected total is courtesy of KenPom and not Vegas.  The rotation is pretty wide as only 1 player played above 28 minutes in the first game of the season.  Tyler Kohl had ridiculous usage in game 1 on his way to a sexy looking 30-10-5 line.  He has GPP winning upside at his price, however, I think my exposure to this team will come from Deion Bute and Jamir Coleman.  I generally do worry about bigs from small goes going up against power conference teams and foul trouble is ALWAYS a true concern in CBB, however, I think Bute pays off in this spot at just $5400.  Hugley had some solid usage off of the bench and could very well pay off his $3900 price tag.

Georgetown (Proj Total 81)-  The projected total is courtesy of KenPom and not Vegas.  Georgetown had 9 guys play 14+ minutes in their opening, 15 point, win and now they get Kaleb Johnson back.  This is going to be a tough situation to predict as I have a feeling this team will continue to roll out a bunch of players all season long.  Mac McClung had the highest usage rate, however, was not very effective and I have a feeling the return of Johnson takes some firing away from McClung.  I could be wrong as it could be Mourning that sees a dip in minutes and productivity.  I think Jessie Govan is the top Georgetown play and his upside puts him near the top of the list of overall plays of the day.  Obviously, with how balanced this team was in game 1, I have to be worried.  I want to have exposure to Josh LeBlanc but that price point is a bit extreme for a bench guy who saw extra minutes due to Govan having a bit of foul trouble in game 1.  Both Akinjo and Pickett are guys I will sprinkle in as upper low to lower mid-range price point options.
