Week 10 Thursday Night CFB Preview!!!

Week 10 is among us and we get to start the weekend early with some great Thursday night group of 5 matchups.  According to our sister site Beat the Bookie, we have 2 great games with totals in the 60’s and one that is the lowest total I have seen all year in CFB under 40!  Make sure to check out Beat the Bookie where you can get great sports betting advice and also information on how to turn that into DFS success!!!  I think there are some great places to attack this week’s matchups that will be outside the box.  Make sure to join our VIP members in slack every day as well, especially on game days where we will be discussing all the latest injury news!

Before we start…

We would like to congradulate member PhilipCox on his great win this week!  NBA has been hot to start the year and we look to continue this success all year long!  Be sure to check out this FREE article by DFS  N’ Donuts for tonight’s Halloween slate!

Northern Illinois (-6) @ Akron Total 37

Northern Illinois

This is a game that I will be fading more than anything, but there are some decent GPP plays in this game.  Marcus Childers has been putting up good total touch numbers per game combining passing and running, he just hasn’t done much with them.  This Akron team has given up a decent amount of passing yards as well so he is not a terrible play.  He will be throwing the ball mainly to DJ Brown and Juwan Wesley, both of whom get about 7 targets a game.  Akron has been very tight against opposing wideouts though so I would only use them if you are going to MME.  Akron has been giving up fantasy points on the ground though and Tre Harbison could be a cheap option for you.  He has had some games where he really shares touches with Marcus Jones but he has also had games where he really takes the lead in the running game.  If this is one of those, it could be a great value day for him.

Akron

Akron comes into this game with an implied team total under 14.  They are going up against a top 10 S&P+ defense that does not give up much fantasy production at all.  A full fade is perfectly fine, but they will also be very contrarian.  Kato Nelson is a dual-threat quarterback who throws about 30 times a game.  He is not the most efficient passer but the touches are there for him.  When airing it out, Andre Williams is the main target and Williams might be the most consistent fantasy option on this team.   A Nelson-Williams stack will be very low owned.  Van Edwards is the lead running back for Akron and has been trending upwards in both carries and yards.  He is very cheap and could be a good value option.

Ohio (-2) @ Western Michigan Total 65

Ohio

This is another MAC game with two very bad defenses.  Ohio faces a Western Michigan team that ranks 105th in the defensive S&P+ rankings.  They are giving up over 25 Fan Duel points a night to opposing QBs which makes Nathan Rourke look like a good option this slate.  Rourke has over 27 FD points in his last 2 outings.  Rourke’s most consistent wideout is Andrew Meyer who has double-digit FD points and a touchdown each of the last 3 weeks.  Papi White is a boom or bust option that could be a great GPP play but could also get a single digit performance.  Maleek Irons and AJ Ouellette have turned into a committee backfield with both trending up as of late.  With Western Michigan giving up 185 yards on the ground a game, I don’t mind using either of these backs.

Western Michigan

As bad as Western Michigan’s defense is, Ohio’s is worse, especially against wide receivers.  Ohio has been giving up 265 yards through the air and over 40 Fan Duel points to wideouts.  QB Jon Wassink was injured last week opening up the roll to to Kaleb Eleby.  Eleby took over last week and put up 293 yards and 2 touchdowns in Wassink’s absence.  I think this could be a great week for him.  Jaylen Reed is the main target I would like to pair with Eleby, but D’Wayne Eskridge is a great pivot at WR.  Reed is the touchdown threat with 8 on the season, but Eskridge is the deep ball threat and could feast off of this poor Ohio passing defense.  LaVante Bellamy has been the big name back at WMU but more and more this is a committee with Jamauri Bogan, with Bogan even getting more runs last week.  Ohio has a much more stout rushing defense than their passing defense and neither of these backs are my favorite plays this week but I do think it is viable to have a piece of both of them in your lineups.

Temple @ Central Florida (-10.5) Total 61

Temple

This game is one that I think will get the most DFS love and rightfully so.  Temple goes to Central Florida to face a surprisingly good defense bend don’t break defense.  Anthony Russo has actually been very efficient for his price the past 3 games averaging just under 20 FD points.  I think he could be forced to air out the ball more than normal if UCF gets out to a lead.  His receivers do not consistently see the end zone, but they are very cheap this slate on Fan Duel.  Isaiah Wright, Ventell Bryant, Branden Mack, and even Randle Jones are all viable stack options with Russo.  You could even double stack here if you think Russo has a good game.  The running back situation for the Owls is one of the biggest things to monitor on this slate.  Ryquell Armstead was a workhorse back, averaging over 22 carries in the last 4 games before he got hurt against ECU.  Armstead is a game-time decision but any news that says he gets a full workload I love.  If Armstead is out, Jager Gardner is a great value play.  He has 11 and 15 rushes in the 2 games he has been the lead back and he is sitting at $5,500 on Fan Duel.

Central Florida

The biggest factor on this slate is whether or not Milton McKenzie plays or not.  He is a game-time decision and something we need to look for.  That being said, Temple has a top 15 S&P+ defense and is #1 in passing defense.  This would be a great strength on strength matchup is McKenzie is to play.  Without McKenzie, I will completely fade the passing game for UCF.  Last game, Darriel Mack threw for only 120 yards and faced a much worse defense.  If McKenzie is in, this is a great receiving corps to target.  Gabriel Davis is the lead receiver but given his price, I might fade him.  Dredrick Snelson and Tre Nixon are where I really want to attack with depreciated prices due to bad games with Mack.  If Mack starts, I might seriously look to target Adrian Killins.  He was used in the passing game as well as the leading rusher and I think they will need him to do all he can with no McKenzie.
