The second games of the WNBA semifinals series are upon us, with both the Storm and the Mystics leading their respective series. Given these are game 2 of the same series we had on Sunday, not much has changed from the writeup. A thorough breakdown of each game and which players to target from them can be found HERE.

Today, we’ll look at possible game stacks to target in GPPs. The goal here is to find players in good spots and stack them in such a way as to exploit potential low ownership. This keeps me from repeating myself from Sunday’s article, and offers a different product to you. Let’s dive in!

  • Washington Mystics @ Atlanta Dream – Mystics Lead 1-0

The Mystics went into Atlanta on Sunday and wrestled away game 1 from the Dream. They’ll look to do the same tonight, in order to take a commanding 2 game lead. On the other hand, the Dream will be looking to bounce back tonight. Vegas expects this game to be close, with the line opening in the Dreams favor and has now switched to them being a +1 underdog. I agree with Vegas here, expecting a very close game, and that affects the kinds of plays from this game.

With a close game, Elena Delle Donne is the top play from this game. Due to her huge performance in game 1, her ownership will be through the roof, so take that into account. On the Dream side, the action will be on Elizabeth Williams. The masses will flock to her after her performance. While she has a good spot, this is an opportunity to differentiate and instead turn to Jessica Breland.

My favorite way to attack this slate is to start with Breland, go up and add Delle Done, and then close it out with Renee Montgomery. Montgomery is one of those players who will be lower-owned today due to a poor performance in game 1. She has 40+ points upside, making her a nice GPP target today. Another option is to replace Montgomery in that stack with Brittney Sykes. Sykes underperformed in the first game and I’ll expect her ownership to be low as people turn towards Alex Bentley instead. This is a good time to capitalize on it.

  • Phoenix Mercury @ Seattle Storm – Storm Lead 1-0

The Mercury matched into Seattle on Sunday and battled hard against the #1 seeded Storm but came up short. Today, they look to steal a game from the Storm and avoid the dreaded 2-game down hole. The Storm are a -5 favorite here today according to Vegas, and the O/U is set around 177.

Britney Griner had a disappointing first game, and you can expect her ownership to be lower than that of Delle Donne and Breanna Stewart. This is a good time to target a player who is virtually unguardable when she comes to play. On the other side of that equation, Stewart had a great first game and is a mismatch for the Mercury. They really can’t find the right body to put on Stewart.

As a result, stacking Griner and Stewart today makes for an interesting stack, and the favorite close of it from this game is to add in Jewell Loyd. Loyd didn’t live up to expectations in the first game, but she showed a flash of brilliance in the 4th quarter, giving us a taste of what she can do. I’ll rather attack with Loyd, than chase Diana Taurasi or DeWanna Bonner.  Another idea is to use Sue Bird here, however, two things make that troublesome. First, Bird will garner a lot of ownership today after her game one performance, and secondly, the matchup is not the best one.

GAME STACKS:

  • Elena Delle Donne, Jessica Breland, Renee Montgomery
  • Elena Delle Donne, Jessica Breland, Brittney Sykes
  • Britney Griner, Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd
  • Britney Griner, Breanna Stewart, Sue Bird
