Welcome back after a quick break. If you are new to the Army then you may not be aware but, we have been on absolute fire in MMA the past few months. This week we are in Japan for a very early 13 fight card. Contests aren’t the best this week so don’t go killing your bankroll. I think a solid idea is focus on making a good cash lineup and then playing some tournaments. I am personally only doing the 3-entry max and quarter contest. DFS MMA UFC 132 Fighter Advice
Kim 8.4k vs Fabian 7.8k
For whatever reason odds still haven’t been released for this fight. Kim will have a reach advantage. Plus she is a decent striker with good output 4.27 Significant Strikes per minute (SS’s). Fabian isn’t that good anywhere. This is a GPP only fight for me. I only want to target 1 side of it and that’s Kim. I won’t go crazy with my ownership but, she is worth grabbing some shares of.
Sasaki (-255) 9k vs Lausa (+215) 7.2k
Sasaki will have a size advantage and will look to take advantage of this with his ground game. He averages 2 TD’s per fight and has a decent submission game to go along with that. Lausa is a good boxer, but that’s about it. He has shown he can be taken down and is sub par on the ground. Sasaki is playable in all formats. My lean is more in tournaments with the way my current lineup construction is. Lausa is a tournament punt at best. Just be aware he needs KO to score well (he is fairly low output).
Inoue (-185) 8.9k vs Schnell (+160) 7.3k
Inoue has a good jab and is ok on the ground. Schnell is solid overall. He is a good striker and has decent power. His man knock is his suspect chin. Vegas likes this to at least last 2 rounds. That puts Inoue as a tournament play only. Since if that’s the case he most likely won’t hit value. Schnell I don’t mind as a punt play in all formats. He lands at a respectable rate (2.93 SS’s). Plus at his price he allows us to afford more high priced favorites.
Pereira (-165) 8.8k vs Xiaonan (+145) 7.4k
Pereira is ok on the ground and as a striker. Xiaonan is a good striker. She has solid kicks and good power. Pereira is most likely a fade or very low exposure play for me. She just doesn’t land at a high enough to justify her salary. Xianan I really like as a tournament plus. She has a decent chance to win plus I don’t think she will be super popular.
Matthews (-535) 9.4k vs Anzai (+420) 6.8k
Matthews is a good striker and has solid TD’s. He is athletic and a solid wrestler. Anzai is an aggressive fighter and has decent power. Matthews is playable everywhere. He is the highest priced fighter and has the best odds. Anzai is worth using in 1-2 lineups as an extreme punt. More to just hedge your Matthews lineups. The most likely outcome in this fight is Matthews dominates in all aspects.
Kenan (-265) 9.1k vs Aldana (+225) 7.1k
I don’t have a ton of interest in this fight. Aldana is coming into this fight on a 3 year layoff. Kenan most likely dominates. Vegas does like this fight to end early though. So, it might be worth have small exposure to both fighters.
Young (-150) 8.7k vs Dy (+130) 7.5k
Young is a tough fighter with solid cardio. He is ok overall and is a decent striker. Dy has solid power and is a good striker. I am not a fan of Young’s salary and will most likely be fading him. Dy for the price makes for a solid tournament punt.
Yadong (-120) 7.9k vs Arantes (+100) 8.3k
Yadong is a good striker and trains at Team Alpha Male. Arantes is a veteran fighter and has solid submissions. Yadong has odds value which puts him in play in cash. In tournaments this actually makes me want to have more exposure to Arantes. I think having some of both is a solid tournament approach.
Yan (-525) 9.3k vs Ishihara (+415) 6.9k
Yan is an excellent striker and has good power. He also has a solid ground game. Ishihara is an ok striker and has solid power. I really like Yan in tournaments as a pivot off of Matthews. He has just as much upside. Ishihara is more or less a dart throw that I will have very limited exposure to.
Jingliang (-280) 9.2k vs Abe (+240) 7k
Jingliang is a good striker and has solid power. Abe is a decent striker with good power as well. Both of these fighters average more than 4 SS’s. Plus vegas expects this to end inside the distance. I think both fighters are playable in tournaments and I don’t mind Jingliang in cash.
Clark (-150) 8.5k vs Eye (+130) 7.7k
It’s the battle of the Jessica’s. Ok not really. I see this as a one-sided fight. This is Clark’s fight to win or lose. She has good TD’s and os a solid striker as well. It doesn’t hurt either that she lands over 5 SS’s per minute. I love her in tournaments. Eye is pretty much an auto-fade for me.
Pedro (-140) 8.2k vs Saint Preux (+120) 8k
This is a tournament fight only for me. Both fighters are solid strikers. I am going to play it safe here and just have equal exposure to both. How much exposure? You will have to hear my thoughts in Slack as we get closer to the fights.
Edwards (-200) 8.6k vs Cerrone (+170) 7.6k
I am personally just locking in the stack here for cash.
