Welcome to another weekend of fights. This week we have 2 cards (Friday and Saturday). Stay tuned for all the Ultimate Fighter content I will have. We are focusing on Saturday’s card here and its a fairly solid one.
Before we get started, I want to congratulate DFS Army Member Kanger aka BigDaddyKang on this massive $50,000 cash with a 4th place finish in this past weeks NFL Milly Maker on DraftKings. Just another example of life-changing money won this season by a DFS Army VIP. Congratulations Kanger.

If you have any questions reach out to me in in Slack Chat. Don’t forget to use our great tool the MMA Research Station and be sure to follow me on Twitter! Let’s get down to breaking down this funky card.

Cooper (-470) 9.1k vs Magena (+375) 7.1k
This fight I probably won’t end up having much exposure to. Cooper is really good anywhere. She is a fairly solid striker and will want to keep this fight standing. Magena hasn’t had a fight in over a year. She is an ok wrestler but, she normally starts to gas in later rounds. Cooper should win this fight. I just don’t want to pay her big salary. I like other fighters in her price range more. Plus I think its very likely that this goes to decision. Cooper is only a GPP play for me and only as a pivot if, I am building more then 10-12 lineups. Magena is a GPP dart at best and I will more than likely be fading her.
Willis (+220) 8.8k vs Crowder (+180) 7.4k
This is a heavyweight fight so anything is possible here. All it takes is 1 punch from either of these guys. Willis is solid all-around. He is an ok striker with solid body kicks. He is also a solid wrestler. Crowder is a pretty sloppy fighter overall. He also has a poor ground game. I like Willis in this spot. He should be able to get this fight to the ground. He has the advantage there and should be able to land a few TD’s. He is playable in all formats (I prefer GPP’s more than cash). Crowder is GPP punt worthy if, you want to go that route.
Reyes (-500) 9.4k vs Kimball (+400) 6.8k
Reyes has big power and good speed. He has solid kicks and likes to put together combos. He is also the more experienced fighter in this matchup. Kimball is a good wrestler. He is also shown to be difficult to put away. I love Reyes as a tournament play here. I am hesitant to use him in cash because if this doesn’t end early he might not reach value. Kimball is only on my radar as a dart play.
Alhassan (-245) 9k vs Homasi (+205) 7.2k
Alhassan has big power and is a good striker. He also likes to apply good pressure. Homasi likes to get himself into slugfests. This often times causes him to get hit frequently. Alhassan is playable in all formats. He should have a solid score in a fight he should dictate. I probably won’t have much Homasi other then a few ownership plays in contests I am building more than 12 lineups.

Herrig (-140) 8.3k vs Casey (+120) 7.9k
Herrig’s last few fights she has looked really good. She is a good striker that likes to use her kickboxing. She is decent on the ground and has good cardio. Casey is an ok striker. She likes to use her kicks and knees. She will also have a reach advantage as well. She does tend to tire in later rounds though. My preferred play here is Herrig. I like her in both formats. I like that in a win she would most likely do it via her wrestling. We all know what that means for DK scoring. I will have a few shares of Casey in GPP’s. But overall Herrig is my preferred play.
Teymur (-185) 8.4k vs Klose (+160) 7.8k
Teymur is a good striker with good combos. He has good leg kicks and a solid chin. He also has a solid TD defense. Klose has decent leg kicks. He is solid in the clinch and a good grappler. I like Teymur in this spot especially when you see his salary. I love his upside for tournaments. Klose is punt worthy (I just won’t have much of him.
Oliveira (-240) 8.9k vs Madeiros (+200) 7.3k
Oliveira is a tough fighter. He is strong with decent power. He is good on the ground especially when he has top control. Medeiros has ok power with a solid submission game. I like Oliveira in tournaments mainly as a pivot off of other fighters in this range. Medeiros is worth a play or 2. In a win, he would for sure pay off his salary.
Felder (-135) 8.5k vs C. Oliveira (+115) 7.7k
Felder is a tough fighter. He is a solid striker who fights at a good pace. He has never been submitted. Oliveira has a solid ground game with ok submissions. He is good in the clinch and has decent TD’s. Either fighter is in play here. Just depends on how you see the fight playing out. If it stays standing Felder has the advantage. If it goes to the mat then it favors Oliveira more. I am still on the fence here. Both are playable in tournaments. Not sure what I am doing with this in cash (ask me in Slack).

Torres (-245) 8.6k vs Waterson (+205) 7.6k
Torres fairly solid all-around. She has good leg kicks and good cardio. She is also a solid grappler with good submissions. Waterson has solid leg kicks. She will most likely try to keep the fight at range. For this reason, Torres is the better play. In a win, she would most likely be doing through her wrestling and grappling. She is playable in all formats. I will have a small exposure to Waterson in tournaments.
Gaethje (-185) 8.7k vs Alvarez (+160) 7.5k
This is going to be a really fun fight to watch. Gaethje is a very aggressive fighter. He is always pressing forward even if it means getting hit himself in process. He has good hands and leg kicks. He has a great gas tank. He has a solid chin. Also, 15 of his wins have come via TKO. Alvarez is a tough fighter with decent power. He is a good striker with solid leg kicks as well. Gaethje is 1 of my favorite plays period. I love him in all formats. Alvarez is a solid punt in all formats.
Cejudo (-280) 9.2k vs Pettis (+240) 7k
Cejudo is a very quick. He is a good striker with good kicks as well (lands 4 Significant Strikes per minute). He is a good wrestler (averages 2.5 TDs a fight). He also has 100% TD defense. Pettis is a decent striker. He can be taken down. Cejudo is playable in all formats. Pettis is punt worthy (I won’t be going that way).
Ngannou (-270) 9.1k vs Overeem (+230) 7.1k
This is a great fight to target in tournaments. Ngannou has big power and is a solid striker. He also has a decent ground game. Overeem has decent power with good leg kicks. He also has a suspect chin. He tends to also be a low out striker. Ngannou is a great GPP play. The only problem is he might be very popular as well. Overeem I may just fade even in a win he might not score very high.

Holloway (-320) 9.3k vs Aldo (+260) 6.9k
Holloway is a very good striker with solid ground and pound. He also lands at a very high rate (5.5 SS’s). Aldo has deadly leg kicks and a solid TD defense. First off the stack is very much in play in cash. This fight I will have heavy exposure to in tournaments period. I will be heavier on Holloway then Aldo. If you do use Aldo in GPP’s it opens up a ton of options though.
