Welcome again fellow fight fans to another Saturday night of UFC action. This time we have a 13-fight card taking place in Montevideo, Uruguay. There are several very close matches on this card which will make for some interesting choices in your tournament builds. But, that’s not what this article is about. My goal is to help navigate you through this interesting card and find some solid fighters to begin your cash game construction with.
For you 1st time readers, welcome and I hope you enjoy the article. For all you regular readers, you will notice a change. Moving forward I am going to gear this article for cash games. But a major point we make here at DFS Army is proper bankroll management. A major part of that is, of course, cash games. It may not be the sexiest way to build your bankroll but, over time it can be the most consistent. I am a firm believer in the 80-20 rule. Which is 80% of your allocated bankroll for the night in cash games and 20% in tournaments. MMA Cash Game Basics for DFS
In cash games, unlike tournaments, we are trying to build a solid floor with our lineups. Many times that may mean using a fighter with great odds to win a match or taking someone who is severely mispriced in a solid spot. Cash games are often times card dependent. For example, if a fighter is expected to be chalky in cash games and I feel they are in a good spot I have no problem eating the chalk and just rostering him. After all, he’s chalky for a solid reason. One major difference between cash and tournament play is getting past your aversion to play the chalk. Often times, the chalk makes a lot of sense. DFS MMA UFC On ESPN+ 14 Cash Core Plays
Rodolfo Vieira (-215) 9.1k
Rodolfo is a relentless grappler and his style is tailor-made to produce huge draftkings scores. Vegas is fully expecting this fight to end (ITD) -465 and in this scenario expecting Vieira to be getting his hands raised with a -170 prop. Plus with this being his UFC debut he could be lower owned than he should be. Don’t let that deter you from using him in your cash lineup.
Valentina Shevchenko (-875) 9.6k
Shevchenko is the most expensive fight on the slate and also happens to be the highest favorite. While, her 3.36 Significant Strikes (SS’s) per minute might not sound that enticing at first glance you need to also take into account she lands 2.06 takedowns (TD’s) per fight. I also like the fact that while Vegas is expecting this fight to end Inside The Distance (-165) they are leaning with it going into the later rounds. That just means more opportunities for her to rack up more Draftkings points. I think she is a solid cash play.
Veronica Macedo (-135) 7.6k
Macedo is going to be the chalk cheap play in cash. She is priced as an underdog but, is now the favorite to win. No need to overthink this. Almost everyone will have her in their cash lineups. This is one of those cases where I think it’s best to eat it and move on.
Sure, these are MY favorite cash game plays, but maybe you play GPPs or like others. That’s fine…..you need tools, though. Fight To Target In Hybrids/Tournaments
Now that we covered some cash plays. Let’s breakdown 1 fight I really think you should get exposure to in your hybrid and tournament lineups.
Vicente Luque (-215) 9k vs Mike Perry (+195) 7.2k
Both fights have the ability to end this fight very quickly. Perry has legit 1 punch knockout power and at his salary would be in the optimal lineup if he did so. Luque also has produced some 100+ Draftkings scores in his wins. Overall this is a fight I will have good exposure to and Luque is my preferred play.
