The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked. We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Los Angeles Dodgers
Yeah, this is chalk. And yeah, I’m still playing them. Ryan Feltner has a 5.59 ERA, and now he has to face the Dodgers at altitude. That’s just too good of an offensive environment to completely ignore, especially with this lineup. Coors obviously raises the ceiling even more, and the Dodgers have enough power to take advantage of every mistake. I understand wanting to get different, but I’m not fading one of the best offenses in baseball in this spot just to be contrarian. I’ll eat the chalk and hope they do what they usually do.

Atlanta Braves
The Braves can be frustrating because you never quite know which version of the offense is going to show up, but I like this matchup enough to go over the field. They’re at home against Zebby Matthews, who has a 5.34 ERA, and Atlanta has plenty of power throughout the lineup. If Matthews isn’t sharp, the Braves can put up a crooked number quickly. This is definitely a GPP play for me, but I want more exposure than the field probably will.
Boston Red Sox
Boston has cooled off a little bit, but I’m not going to let a slight dip scare me away from this matchup. Merrill Kelly has a 5.11 ERA and 1.48 WHIP, and that’s plenty of traffic for an offense as talented as Boston’s. The Red Sox should be one of the more popular stacks, and I honestly don’t mind it. This is still one of the better spots on the slate, and I’m happy to keep riding the offense even after the recent slowdown.

Kansas City Royals
Jack Perkins has been a disaster lately, and I’m happy to keep attacking him. He’s carrying a 7.27 ERA and has allowed 6, 5, and 6 earned runs in his last three starts. That’s about as consistent as you can be in the wrong direction. Kansas City isn’t always the offense I want to pay attention to, but this is exactly the type of matchup where I’ll make an exception. If Perkins continues pitching like this, the Royals have a chance to put up a big number. Nice tournament spot.
Minnesota Twins
Tyler Mahle is pretty much never a name that makes me want to stay away from an offense, and the BvP numbers here make the spot even more interesting. The Twins have hit .281 with a .780 OPS in 70 combined plate appearances against him. That’s a solid enough sample to get my attention, and I think Minnesota could fly under the radar. They’re not the sexiest stack on the slate, but that’s exactly why I like them. I’ll definitely have some lower-owned exposure.
