The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | July 8

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
San Diego Padres
I’m going right back to the Padres. Jose Cabrera is still trying to find his footing in the majors, and that’s a tough assignment against a lineup that’s capable of doing damage from top to bottom. San Diego has been swinging the bats well, and this feels like another spot where they can keep things rolling. I don’t mind eating some ownership here because the ceiling is obvious, especially if Cabrera struggles with command early.

Los Angeles Dodgers
This is about as good as it gets. Ryan Feltner has had a rough season, and now he gets the unenviable task of trying to slow down the Dodgers in Sacramento. That’s a combination I’ll happily target every time. Los Angeles can beat you in so many different ways, and if Feltner starts putting runners on base, this lineup has more than enough firepower to turn one bad inning into four or five runs. They’ll be popular, but it’s hard to argue against them being one of the top stacks on the slate.

Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have quietly become one of those offenses I keep finding myself coming back to. Michael McGreevy has shown flashes, but he hasn’t consistently missed enough bats to make me shy away from stacking against him. Milwaukee can pressure pitchers in a lot of different ways with both power and speed, and they’re the type of lineup that doesn’t need three home runs to put up a big number. This feels like a really solid secondary stack with plenty of upside.

Minnesota Twins
This is one of my favorite tournament spots on the slate. Slade Cecconi has been inconsistent all season, and when things start going south, they tend to unravel pretty quickly. The Twins can be maddening because you never know which version is going to show up, but that’s also why I like them in GPPs. If they’re locked in, they’ve got enough thump throughout the lineup to put up a crooked number in a hurry. I could easily see them being one of the higher-scoring offenses tonight. Watch the weather, though.

Colorado Rockies
This is definitely the “hold your nose and click” stack of the slate. The Rockies have been a completely different offense away from Coors Field, so there’s obvious risk here. That said, Roki Sasaki has really struggled this season, and if there’s ever a time to take a shot on Colorado outside of Denver, this is probably it. I’m not going anywhere near them in single-entry, but in MME I actually think they’re pretty interesting. Nobody is going to want to stack the Rockies on the road, and that’s exactly the kind of leverage that can pay off if Sasaki’s command disappears again.
