The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | June 22

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Milwaukee Brewers
One of the best spots on the slate for me. Brady Singer is awful (a 5.32 ERA and 1.61 WHIP), and those are exactly the kinds of numbers I’m looking to attack in tournaments, especially in Great American Smallpark. Milwaukee can beat you in a lot of different ways once runners start getting on base. If Singer’s command issues show up again, the Brewers have the upside to put together one of the bigger offensive performances of the day. I’d be over the field on them here tonight.

Minnesota Twins
I like this spot quite a bit. Eric Lauer has pitched himself to a 5.37 ERA and has shown vulnerability when hitters are able to string together quality at-bats. The Twins have been one of the best offenses over the last few weeks, which is exactly the type of profile I like targeting in tournaments. If they get a couple runners on early and force Lauer into stressful innings, the upside is definitely there. Strong stack with plenty of ceiling.

Houston Astros
This is definitely more of a tournament-only spot, but I think it’s interesting. Dylan Cease has that big strikeout ability as we all know and has looked solid this season, which could keep ownership away from Houston. The Astros, though, have been swinging the bats much better over the last couple of weeks and continue to have the type of veteran lineup that can give any pitcher problems. We’ve all seen Cease blow up at times, and while I’m not building around them as a focus, I don’t mind getting some exposure in larger-field tournaments where leverage matters.

Chicago Cubs
Love this matchup tonight. Kodai Senga has been horrid this season with a 9.00 ERA through six starts, and it’s only his second outing tonight since coming off the IL where he spent a month and a half. He definitely has stretches where walks and elevated pitch counts have created opportunities for opposing offenses. The Cubs have enough patience and power throughout the lineup to capitalize if Senga isn’t locating consistently. A primary stack for me.

Baltimore Orioles
This is one of the first offenses that jumped out to me when I looked at the slate. Baltimore hasn’t always been consistent this season, but the upside remains obvious, especially against inexperienced pitching like Sam Aldeghieri brings. Strong tournament stack and one of my favorite offenses on the board in large-field situations.
