The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | June 16

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Atlanta Braves
I’m happy to keep attacking Adrian Houser. He’s carrying a 5.54 ERA this season and has allowed plenty of traffic with 24 walks in 65 innings. Atlanta hasn’t consistently played to its ceiling this year, but the talent and upside are still obvious from top to bottom. This feels like one of those spots where the Braves can string together quality at-bats and force Houser into trouble early. One of the stronger tournament stacks on the board and a spot I’d be happy being over the field.

Chicago Cubs
This is one of the better spots on the slate for me. Ryan Feltner has been attackable for most of the season, and pitching at Wrigley isn’t exactly the environment you want when you’re already dealing with traffic issues. The Cubs have cooled off from some of their hotter stretches earlier in the year, but this lineup still has plenty of power and can put together crooked numbers in a hurry. If Feltner is giving out baserunners early, Chicago has the upside to be one of the highest-scoring offenses of the night.

Athletics
I don’t care where the A’s are playing…they’re always a spot that I’m interested in for tournaments. Mitch Keller has been on the struggle bus all season with a 5.14 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, and the A’s have shown all season they can leave the yard in bunches. In a hitters’ park, I don’t mind taking some shots on their upside regardless of ownership, and given the size of the slate, they may not be too owned to make a difference.

Milwaukee Brewers
I like this spot quite a bit. Slade Cecconi has shown flashes at times, but he’s also been prone to allowing hard contact and letting innings get away from him when hitters start stringing together baserunners. Milwaukee has quietly been one of the better offenses in baseball this season, ranking near the top of the league in runs scored. The Brewers can beat you with power, speed, or by simply putting constant pressure on the defense, and this feels like a spot where they can do some damage. Strong tournament option with plenty of upside, and given some of the other sexier stacks tonight, they could be a nice bit of leverage for you.

Houston Astros
This is a very interesting spot to me tonight. There’s definitely a revenge narrative here with Framber Valdez facing the organization he spent eight seasons with before signing in Detroit. Valdez is still one of the better pitchers in baseball when he’s right, so this isn’t a matchup I’m targeting heavily. That said, Houston knows him as well as any lineup in the league, and the Astros have shown more life offensively lately. This is strictly a tournament play, but I can see taking some shots in large-field contests if ownership comes in low, and we know how amped/erratic/crazy Valdez can be when things don’t go his way.
