The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | May 17

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks (six if you read between the lines on the FOUR section)
Baltimore Orioles
How do we not consider the Orioles as one of the top stacks today? Miles Mikolas has an ERA of 7.00 on the season and the game total is 10. Regardless of how well the Baltimore bats are or aren’t hitting, they’re firmly in play and this is a spot to go overweight.

Toronto Blue Jays
At some point the Toronto offense has to figure things out, right? Right? This might be as good of a spot as any with Jack Flaherty and his 5.73 ERA on the hill. He does do well against the Blue Jays as a team (they’re hitting .138 against him in close to 100 AB), but as an upside play against his horrible 2026, they can make some sense.

Washington Nationals
This could be a game stack situation for some of your exposure, but I don’t mind the Nats here on the other side of this game, either. Brandon Young has been okay this season, but the Nats have shown that they’ve got pop and ceiling given that they’ve scored more runs than any team in baseball, so I’d make sure to have some shares in your tournaments as well.

Atlanta Braves
Always worth playing the Braves just for their ceiling (and for most of the season the floor has been there as well). Boston is trotting out ______ today, and that doesn’t have me that worried considering that Atlanta has scored the second most runs in the entire league even if they’re a little cold over the past week.

Chicago Cubs
This is always a fun rivalry to watch, and even though Erick Fedde has been a bit better than we’re used to seeing (a 3.77 ERA on the season), the Cubbies traditionally do well against him (an OPS of .857 in 105 PA) and they’re a shot at a good upside given their cold streak (a .211 average as a team over the past two weeks). I’m fine with taking some shots here, especially on a Sunday afternoon when things can get weird.
