The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked. We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Arizona Diamondbacks
Go right back to the well with Arizona tonight. Kumar Rocker hasn’t shown any sign of being able to stop hitters: he’s got a 5.02 ERA and 1.57 WHIP on the season, and he’s allowed 10 earned runs in his last two starts (eight combined innings). Arizona is cold, but that could give some nice leverage. I think they’re valid as a piece of your tournament exposure.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Robbie Ray has been good this season (four quality starts in his last six while striking out seven batters in half of his eight starts), but the Dodgers do hit him well as a team, managing a .957 OPS in 137 team AB. Los Angeles has been very pedestrian offensively over the last couple of weeks, but Ray’s success on the season and their average hitting could be a spot to take advantage of in your MME mix.
Chicago Cubs
The two best teams in the National League go about it again tonight, and the Cub offense has cooled off a bit since coming off of their second 10-game winning streak of the season. I don’t mind taking some shots on that upside coming back tonight; JR Ritchie has been good in his first three starts of the season, but on this larger slate I think that the field may go elsewhere, leaving this Chicago team ripe for some exposure. The Cubs are also tied for the most wins (14) against teams over .500 this season, so they can more than hold their own against teams like Atlanta.

Miami Marlins
The Miami offense has to be in play tonight given the matchup against Simeon Woods Richardson and his 6.92 ERA on the season. The other nice bit is that the Marlin hitters are usually not priced terribly high, so mixing them in with your other stacks can be a nice combination and get you some higher-priced pieces elsewhere while still giving you some nice upside here.
Texas Rangers
This spot is a deeper tournament play, but it makes sense. Ryne Nelson has been abysmal this season: he’s got a 5.68 ERA (even though he’s allowed just two earned runs in his last 12 innings) and is attackable. Texas as a team is hitting .345 against him in 55 AB with a very strong .982 OPS. I don’t mind shares here, especially as people might overlook them given how cold their offense has been.
