The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | April 8

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Houston Astros
Houston has been in Coors for two games now: one game they played well and one game (last night) they were cold. Given the environment and the matchup (Michael Lorenzen has given up 12 earned runs on 19 hits in just 7.1 innings this season), you have to go right back to the well here. Christian Walker is hitting the cover off the ball, so he’s where I’m starting; Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve, and Cam Smith (who continues to be nicely priced) are also who I want in my mix.

Washington Nationals
Everything about this screams “great spot.” The Nationals have been one of the best offenses in the league through the first two weeks of the season, and today they get to face Miles Mikolas who has been not good at all thus far (9.1 innings while allowing 15 earned runs on 17 hits). CJ Abrams, James Wood, Joey Wiemer, and Brady House are who I want in my Nats lines.

Boston Red Sox
We have a Red Sox team that’s been a little slow to get it going this season, but today they’re facing a Milwaukee pitcher making his major league debut, so I don’t mind taking some shots in my tournaments. Willson Contreras and Masataki Yoshida are solid places to start; Jarren Duran and Trevor Story are both upside shots I’ll have in my mix as well.

Atlanta Braves
The Braves have scored the fifth most runs in the league this season, and today they get David Peterson who has been up and down to start off.  Love the tournament spot here for Atlanta; I’m starting with Drake Baldwin and Matt Olson and working from there. Ronald Acuna, Jr. has to get it going at some point, so I’m going to also keep going back to the well there.

Colorado Rockies
The Rockies have been playing lovely baseball in these two games against the Astros, and I want to go right back to the well in this one; not only are they in Coors, but they’ve got Cristian Javier on the mound who is still trying to make his way back from injury from last season. Mickey Moniak (who HRed last night), TJ Rumfeld, and Troy Johnston are your starting spots here.

FOUR MLB BvP Matchups
Jake Bauers vs. Sonny Gray: 6-16 with a 2B, HR, and two RBI
Shohei Ohtani vs. Dylan Cease: 10-26 with two 2B, three HR, 10 RBI, and four BB
Kyle Schwarber vs. Tyler Mahle: 5-18 with two HR, four RBI, and four BB
George Springer vs. Shohei Ohtani: 9-17 with two HR and four RBI

THREE MLB Value Plays
Dylan Beavers ($2600 DK): hitting fifth or sixth most of the season
Mauricio Dubon ($3100 DK): .953 OPS this season and hits LHP well; 6-11 with a HR and two RBI vs. Reid Detmers
Hyeseong Kim ($2300 DK): hitting ninth and getting consistent playing time with Betts out; nice wraparound piece in MME
