The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked. We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
New York Yankees
The Yankees should be popular tonight: they’ve got good upside and they’re facing a bad pitcher in Mike Burrows (he has a 6.75 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in five starts) and an equally bad bullpen once they get to him (a combined 5.75 ERA from that group). I think this is chalk you can feel good about, and I’m starting with Aaron Judge and Ben Rice. Jazz Chisholm is starting to come around after about as cold a start to a season as you can get, so I want to have some exposure to him as well.

Chicago Cubs
The Cubs are the hottest team in baseball, having won 10 straight games and taking the first game of the series in the ninth inning last night. Roki Sasaki is on the mound and he hasn’t been good this season (a 6.11 ERA and 1.87 WHIP through four starts while hitting the five-inning mark just once). I’m going to keep rolling with Chicago tonight. Start with Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ, mix in Alex Bregman, and also include Michael Busch and Dansby Swanson.
Detroit Tigers
The Tigers get one of the better matchups on the slate tonight: Brady Singer is on the mound for the Reds. He just hasn’t figured it out yet this season, pitching to a 5.62 ERA in his five starts so far. Detroit’s hitters are starting to wake up as well, and my mix will start with Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, and Jahmai Jones, all of whom have an OPS over 1.200 over the last week.

Atlanta Braves
I almost don’t care who the Phillies have on the mound tonight: the Braves’ bats are hot right now and I want to ride the wave. They’ve averaged six runs per game over the past two weeks (second only to the Cubs) and I love having exposure to them in tournaments. Michael Harris II is their hottest hitter and Ozzie Albies continues to be too cheap for how he’s playing, so start with them.
Athletics
Little boom-or-bust play here, but we know the A’s bats have pop and we know that Mackenzie Gore has not been lighting the world on fire this season with his 4.15 ERA. The Athletics can go cold and can strike out, but in tournaments I love the upside that bats like Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz can bring, and Jeff McNeil is a good, cheap piece with a great track record against Gore.
