The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | April 24

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Chicago Cubs
Love the spot for the Cubbies tonight: they’re hot offensively and Emmet Sheehan has been just the opposite (a 5.85 ERA through four starts). This could be a game stack situation as well as we could see some offense from both sides, and I’ll want exposure to both. Nico Hoerner, Ian Happ, and Seiya Suzuki are where I’m starting, and I also want PCA and Alex Bregman.

Los Angeles Dodgers
See above; Jameson Taillon is volatile, and when he’s off his game, he gives up runs in a hurry. He shut out the Mets last time (but they were in the middle of that long losing streak), and the time before he gave up six runs to the Pirates. The Dodger offense is always viable and in play, and I think this is a spot that you can go with tonight; additionally, they’ve got a solid .840 OPS against him in 79 AB. Kyle Tucker is a great spot to start facing his old team (and he’s had some solid result against Taillon, as has Teoscar Hernandez), and you want to mix in Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages as well…and don’t forget about Dalton Rushing (he’s been crushing the ball).

Atlanta Braves
A hot offense (six runs per game over their last seven and just under that for the season, tops in baseball) against a young pitcher (even a good one) is a solid tournament consideration for me, and I think the Braves fit the bill here tonight. Andrew Painter has good stuff, but he’s been inconsistent as shown by his 4.42 ERA, and I think Atlanta’s offense takes advantage of that tonight. Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Drake Baldwin, and Michael Harris II have a combined 12 HR between them over their last seven games.

Chicago White Sox
Huge surprise with how the White Sox offense has been lately: they’ve scored 46 runs over their last seven games. They get a great spot tonight facing the baseball punching bag that is Miles Mikolas. Love the momentum that they’ve got right now, and I don’t mind sticking with them not just for the hot streak but also for the matchup. Munetaka Murakami has been on a tear, and Colson Montgomery and Miguel Vargas aren’t too far behind.

New York Yankees
This could be another game stack situation with both offenses playing very well (and either team could be a nice pivot from maybe the chalkier Cubs-Dodgers situation up above). The Yankees have a top-10 offense easily, and with Lance McCullers and his 6.20 ERA on the mound to start the game and the Astros’ 5.57 bullpen ERA to finish, I love the upside in this spot. Aaron Judge, Ben Rice, and Cody Bellinger are where I’d start, and I’d mix in Jose Caballero for some stolen base upside and Giancarlo Stanton for the long ball.
