The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | April 19

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Chicago Cubs
The Cubs have been way up and down to start the season, but it looks like they might be on the up side here over the past few days, and today they get another matchup that is in their favor. David Peterson (6.41 ERA and 1.83 WHIP on the season) is a solid target here, and Chicago, who in 47 AB has a nice .815 OPS against him, will be a stack I want to be over the field on. Nico Hoerner is always one of those players with a solid floor; Ian Happ and Alex Bregman have nice upside, and Moises Ballesteros is young and trending hot.

Minnesota Twins
The Twins get one of the best matchups on paper today: they’re facing Brady Singer who has looked atrocious this season. Minnesota’s offense has been good for most of the young season: they’re top five in runs scored, and I see more of that continuing today. Byron Buxton has the pop you want; players like Austin Martin, Trevor Larnach, and Ryan Jeffers are pieces to include in your stacks as well.

Houston Astros
The Astros continue to be hugely effective offensively and atrocious pitching-wise, but as this article is about the hitting, that’s where we’re looking. Matthew Liberator doesn’t scare me doesn’t look terribly good thus far, so I’m completely content going right back to this offense. Yordan Alvarez is about as hot a hitter as you can get, and Christian Walker and Cristian Vazquez are also a couple of my favorite Houston bats today.

Los Ángeles Dodgers
One more game in Coors for the league’s best offense? Yes, please. Michael Lorenzen is like all the other Rockies pitchers…there’s nothing to be worried about when it comes to stacking against him. Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages are the Dodgers’ hottest hitters right now, and mix in Will Smith and Max Muncy for nice tournament upside.

St. Louis Cardinals
Matchup play here: the Nationals are trotting out Miles Mikolas with a 11.49 ERA and 2.17 WHIP through four starts. The Giants’ offense hasn’t been a world-beater this season, but you can’t ignore the upside in this one, and I want some shares. Willy Adames in the leadoff spot has been great, and Matt Chapman has the pop you want, so I’m starting with those two.
