The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | April 18

The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Los Angeles Dodgers
The most obvious spot here of course belongs to the Dodgers: they’re facing the Rockies in Coors. Might as well get a jump on things, though it always seems that one game in a Coors series always disappoints; still, I’m going for it here again here in this one: Ryan Feltner has a 7.30 ERA and 1.70 WHIP through three starts. Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Andy Pages are my favorites; don’t sleep on Will Smith or Max Muncy, either. There is always validity in fading them (especially when they’re going to be as highly owned as they will be) in your MME, so keep that in mind.

Los Angeles Angels
How do you not keep riding this offense? Second most runs scored in all of baseball, Mike Trout is looking like the Mike Trout we all want to see, and both Jo Adell and Jorge Soler have that power ceiling we love for tournaments. German Marquez doesn’t really look any better not in a Rockies uniform than he did in one, so I’d go over the field here in this spot.

Houston Astros
The Astros continue to be hugely effective offensively and atrocious pitching-wise, but as this article is about the hitting, that’s where we’re looking. Andre Pallante doesn’t scare me doesn’t look terribly good thus far, so I’m completely content going right back to this offense. Yordan Alvarez is about as hot a hitter as you can get, and Christian Walker and Jose Altuve complete my favorite Houston bats tonight.

Toronto Blue Jays
Zac Gallen just hasn’t found his form yet enough for me to trust staying away from him, so I’m happy to take some shots with the Blue Jay offense in tournaments. George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero are the obvious starting spots, and Daulton Varsho has been hot lately. Could be a somewhat overlooked spot tonight.

St. Louis Cardinals
Matchup play here: the Astros are trotting out Lance McCullers who isn’t quite all the way back from missing major parts of two seasons with injury. Additionally, the Astros’ bullpen is one of the worst in the entire league, sporting a 6.31 team ERA (the second worst mark in baseball). The nice thing is that most of the Cardinals lineup is fairly affordable. Jordan Walker is a must, and Alec Burleson and JJ Wetherholdt are my other starting spots here.
