The 5-4-3 Double Play | Stacks, Matchups, and Value Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings | March 31

Another lovely 10-game slate to look at on this last day of March.  Where can we go to get different?  Where can we go heavier?  Let’s figure it out.  The focus of this article is to sort through the myriad of options on larger slates and find not only some solid foundational plays but also some spots that could go overlooked.  We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing.  Our Discord strategy rooms are incredibly active. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays are going to be exciting and chalky for a bit here, and they’ve had a solid enough of a start to warrant it.  Tonight they get the Rockies (which automatically makes any opponent chalk) and Ryan Feltner, and it’s chalk that I don’t mind eating.  He’s got a career 4.75 ERA and 1.43 WHIP…not much else to say.  George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero are where I’m starting, and I don’t mind being over the field on Addison Barger and Alejandro Kirk, either.

New York Mets
Great spot for the Mets tonight: they face Andre Pallante of the 5.31 ERA from last season.  The Cardinals have been sneakily interesting offensively this season thus far, so even some game stacks wouldn’t be the worst idea.  Even though Bo Bichette is off to a slow start, he’s going to turn it around at some point, and I’d prefer to be on him before that happens; Francisco Lindor and Luis Robert are the other “must-haves” from this offense.

Chicago Cubs
Little bit less (maybe?) of an obvious play, but maybe not?  Jose Soriano had a lovely first start of the season (six innings of shutout ball against the Astros with seven Ks), but Chicago’s offense is more threatening than Houston’s, so I’m fine with going at least field weight if not more.  My core with these guys is always going to revolve around PCA, Michael Busch, Alex Bregman, Ian Happ, and Nico Hoerner, so mix and match all of them together.

Atlanta Braves
The Braves are going to go off at some point soon, and facing the Athletics and Aaron Civale could be a spot where that happens.  Almost every Brave on the roster has hits against the A’s pitcher, and I don’t see him improving a ton on his 4.85 ERA from last season, either.  Tournament shares only, but Ronald Acuna, Jr., Matt Olson, and Austin Riley are your main three; Drake Baldwin already has a couple of HR on the season, so he’s a nicely-priced piece as well.

Detroit Tigers
I like this spot as a deeper tournament play for Detroit as they get Brandon Pfaadt and his 5.25 ERA and 1.33 WHIP from last season.  Outside of Kevin McGonigle and Dillon Dingler, the bats aren’t quite there yet, but folks like Kerry Carpenter and Riley Greene are always viable in matchups like this. It’s a good spot to sprinkle in if you think the Tigers start to turn it around offensively, and most of them are affordable enough.

FOUR MLB BvP Matchups
Willy Adames vs. German Marquez: 4-11 with three HR and five RBI
Matt Chapman vs. German Marquez: 6-15 with a 2B and three HR
Jackson Merrill vs. Logan Webb: 9-13 with three 2B and an RBI
Jesus Sanchez vs. Ryan Feltner: 4-11 with two HR and four RBI

THREE MLB Value Plays
Andres Gimenez ($2900 DK / $2700 FD): 7-14 with a HR and five RBI this season; inexpensive piece of a chalky stack
Amed Rosario ($2500 DK / $2400 FD): cheap piece with a good track record against Gilbert (7-14 with three 2B)
Cole Young ($2300 DK / $2500 FD): hot start (.980 OPS through five games), continuing his torrid spring
