Part the Cloud: A Deep Dive into Wide Receivers and Defensive Schemes for 2025 Week 17

Welcome Back to Part the Cloud! We have an extra-special Week 17 on our hands, with a smaller slate of games and fewer opportunities to sift through. That just means we need to be sharper with our picks.

Before diving into this week’s gems, let’s take a quick look back at how our previous selections performed.

🎬 The Film Room: Recent Picks Recap

Jalen Nailor
DK: 0x | FD: 0x
This one turned into the classic “pepper Jefferson” game. Nailor couldn’t convert either of the two modest targets he earned. In a lost season, it felt like Minnesota’s priority was keeping their star receiver satisfied.

Jalen Coker
DK: 1.8x | FD: 1.1x
Carolina leaned heavily on Tet McMillan this week, giving him 10 targets compared to Coker’s 5. Coker did his job—hauling in 3 catches for 47 yards—but the opportunity simply wasn’t there for DFS success. The process was fine; the results just didn’t follow. Better days ahead.

Tre Harris
DK: 2.8x | FD: 1.4x
With Quentin Johnston active, Harris was ultimately off my card. He caught 4 of 5 targets for 54 yards, but Johnston made more noise with his opportunities. A solid real-life performance, just not the right DFS spot.

🧠 12 Personnel: Week 17 WR Targets

Let’s bounce back this week. Only two wide receivers truly jump off the page for me, and both come in at appealing ownership.

Parker Washington — Jaguars

  • DK: $4,800 (Proj. Own: 6.1%)

  • FD: $5,900 (Proj. Own: 7.02%)

The Jaguars are one of the few teams still playing for something in Week 17, so public interest in this game will be high. However, Parker Washington offers a clean way to differentiate.

From a matchup perspective, he profiles more favorably than Meyers. Washington has been effective against Cover 3—which the Colts deploy often—and has consistently punished both man coverage and two-high safety looks at an elite level, areas where Indianapolis has struggled. While he runs fewer routes than Meyers and BTJ due to Tim Patrick rotating in, Washington has commanded the highest target rate on the team over the past three weeks whenever he’s on the field.

Alec Pierce — Colts

  • DK: $4,700 (Proj. Own: 2.59%)

  • FD: $5,800 (Proj. Own: 3.31%)

As Rivers has grown more comfortable, the Colts have increasingly pushed the ball downfield. That shift benefits Alec Pierce immensely.

Once viewed as a situational deep threat, Pierce has evolved into one of the offense’s most trusted options. He’s been Indianapolis’ most effective weapon against Cover 3 and two-high safety looks—both of which he’ll see plenty of against Jacksonville. Rivers is going to throw, as the team matchup is more favorable to the pass. At this ownership, the upside is too strong to ignore.

📝 Final Thoughts

These are my favorite low-owned wide receiver plays for Week 17. I’ll continue monitoring the slate for any late-breaking value as lock approaches.
