ADP = Average Draft Position
Martin Necas (ADP 43) – Necas, ever since the Mikko Rantanen trade, has been attached to the hip of Nathan Mackinnon. The familiarity between them is stronger now than it was and Necas was uber-talented to begin with. This guy could give you similar productivity as a 2nd rounder, and you can get him in the 4th round. I suggest trying to slightly over-draft this guy on your Mackinnon or Makar teams.
Dustin Wolf (ADP 57) – This guy ends a tier at the goalie position for me, and really I think he could be one of the highest scoring goalies in the league for this year. Wolf just finished an excellent rookie season, and he should start the overwhelming majority of games for the Flames. I bet on talent, and this kid has it in spades.

Jake Sanderson (ADP 59) – Jake the snake is one of the best defensemen in the world, and his team is now scary enough offensively to help him reach his ceiling. I think Sandy keeps getting better and better with how young he is, and his coach already gives him mountains of ice time. I think he is undervalued at this ADP.
Zach Hyman (ADP 69) – This is a risky pure ceiling draft pick for your teams you are building to be boom or bust. I also like him on any Edmonton build involving McDavid, Draisaitl, or Bouchard. Hyman may not be ready for the start of the year, and it may take him a month to get fully going. But, when healthy, he has put up 2nd round fantasy production up on McDavid’s wing, and we are getting him in the 6th round. This is an investment pick to be clear, but the upside is there for a potential league winner.
Matthew Knies (ADP 74) – Mitch Marner is gone, which leaves even more opportunity for the young power forward from Toronto by way of Arizona. Knies has 35 goals written all over him, and he hits everything that moves which actually matters on UnderDog. I love the raw point potential here, and I especially love him on Nylander and Matthews teams.
Adam Fox (ADP 86) – Somethings got to give with Adam Fox. He is a former Norris Trophy winner, and then went full on turd-sandwich mode. He is still pretty young, and I am once again betting on talent. When running the powerplay for the Rangers on the same unit as Artemi Panarin, you have to have a high ceiling. The Olympics are coming up, and there is stiff competition for the team USA blue-line. This is a big prove it year for Fox.
Nikolaj Ehlers (ADP 94) – One of my favorite values of the entire draft. Ehlers had 2nd line playing time for the Winnipeg Jets, and was not always on their top powerplay unit. Ehlers should slot right in on Sebastian Aho’s wing on the top line, as well as be on that top powerplay unit. Ehlers is a super speedy and slippery talent that can put up big totals given the opportunity. The ceiling is pretty high here with the opportunity looming, and we can get him in the 8th round.
Adam Fantilli (ADP 100) – Fantilli had 32 goals last year while not always being on the top powerplay unit, and nobody talks about it. This kid is a superb talent and should get even more opportunity given his coach’s trust in him. Although Columbus is a deep team, the ceiling vs opportunity cost for Fantilli at this ADP is too much to pass up on. The sky id the limit for this kid, and the vibes are good in Columbus.
Pavel Dorofeyev (ADP 108) – This ADP is criminal for this young Russian sniper. Dorofeyev poached 35 goals last year, and Vegas added Mitch Marner to their roster. I think Dorofeyev can score upwards of 40 goals this season, and we are seeing him drafted as a late throw in type of player. Slightly over-draft this kid, and thank me later.
Seth Jones (ADP 135) – Seth Jones fit in with Florida like a glove. He immediately played huge minutes and ran their top powerplay unit. I think he retains that role, and that is a role for someone whose ADP should be about 5 rounds higher than it is. Jones is basically free, and the level of disrespect is, well, disrespectful.
Tyler Toffoli (ADP 144) – Too late of a pick for this production. Toffoli is an automatic 30+ goals every season and that won’t change with this fun Sharks roster. If your main players have a week that faulters, Toffoli’s floor will limit the damage, keeping your weekly score competitive.
Cole Perfetti (ADP Free) – Ehlers is gone. Perfetti, AKA the game 7 hero, has a chance to really take a step here. I love the Perfetti ceiling in general, but I mainly like it in lineups with Scheifele, Connor, or Morrissey. This ceiling and young talent doesn’t need chased, but if your team needs an explosive winger, this kid has the talent and chops to have some big weeks for you.
Frank Nazar (ADP Free) – New and big contract Franky Nazar to you minions. Nazar signed a massive deal only having a handful of NHL games under his belt. This is an absolute punt/dart throw, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Nazar has been invited to team USA camp, and given all of that money for a reason. He is very talented. He should be on the first or 2nd line for Chicago depending on if they keep both him and Bedard at center. He also should be on the top powerplay unit. They paid him, and I am sure that management wants the coaches to play this kid a ton.
