NHL Building Blocks – March 10
We start off the week with four games, and all the teams in the league now will have debuted their new deadline acquisitions. Some very obvious spots, but is that where we need to go? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 10
The Goalie: Mackenzie Blackwood
Blackwood (18-7-2 / 2.22 / .917 with the Avs) has stabilized Colorado’s defense since coming over, making them a more complete team, and he is at home in the altitude against a Blackhawks team that has struggled all season to score the puck.
The Center: Nathan MacKinnon
A ridiculous six goals (including two in each of the last two contests) and seven assists in his last five games, and the Avs get the best matchup on the slate.
The Wing: Brady Tkachuk
Six goals (including the OT winner last game) in his last five and in a great game environment.
The Defenseman: Cale Makar
Two goals and 10 assists during his six-game point streak, and he’s shown why he’s still the best defenseman in the league. Matchup is too good as well.
The Value: Elmer Soderblom
Skating on L1 with Larkin and Raymond.
The Stack: OTT (Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux-Cozens)
Will be less popular than the chalk stack (Colorado), but the Wings’ defense isn’t that good (especially at closing games), so this could be a spot to get ceiling leverage if you’re not wanting to eat the mega-chalk in the Avs. Both teams are fighting for a playoff spot.
