NHL Building Blocks – April 12

NHL Building Blocks – April 12

Five games tonight to start the weekend.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – April 12
The Goalie:
 Kevin Lankinen ($8100 DK / $8500 FD)
The Predators are in 6th place in the West right now and have secured a playoff berth; they still are not locked into that spot, but winning games like tonight’s would allow them to hold onto that spot.  The Blackhawks are awful all around, so Lankinen (10-6-0 / 2.93 / .905) should be able to nab a road win tonight.

The Center:  Nazem Kadri ($6700 DK/ $7300 FD)
Two goals (17 shots) and three assists in his last five games and gets a great matchup tonight; nicely priced for his upside.

The Wing:  Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($5000 DK/ $7200 FD)
Will have more opportunity with McDavid out; goal and four assists in L5 and correlates with the other big boys.  Also kills penalties.

The Defenseman:  Mackenzie Weegar ($6800 DK / $7400 FD)
Five points, 17 shots, and 18 blocks in his last five games and has a great matchup tonight.  Solid floor all around.

The Value:  Ivan Barbashev ($3800 DK / $4800 FD)
Two assists in L5; still L1/PP1 and has good upside.

The Stack:  CGY1 (Kadri-Kuzmenko-Weegar)
Good matchup tonight against the awful Ducks (30th in GAA at 3.58 and 31st in penalty killing at 72.6%).  Flames are out of the playoff picture, but are still playing hard.  Decently priced and can help some of the studlier stacks fit.  Mix in Sharangovich and Huberdeau for secondary/power play exposure.

The Builder:  CGY/NSH ML parlay
