NHL Building Blocks – February 12

NHL Building Blocks – February 12

Four games tonight to start off the week.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – February 12
The Goalie:
 Adin Hill ($8100 DK / $8300 FD)
The Wild offense has been looking better in previous weeks, but overall it’s still below average, scoring just 2.96 goals per game.  Hill has been fabulous this season (14-2-2 / 1.89 / .937, the latter two stats being tops in the league) and has won his past four starts.  I like him at home tonight.

The Center:  Jack Hughes ($9300 DK/ $9200 FD)
Getting his legs back under him in the past two games since coming back from injury; held off the scoresheet but has 11 shots in over 21 minutes of ice time.  Good environment tonight for him to get back to his usual self.

The Wing:  Jonathan Marchessault ($6500 DK/ $7500 FD)
Has looked great since moving up to L1 (four goals and two assists in his past five games) and should have some good chances tonight against a gettable Wild defense.

The Defenseman:  Mackenzie Weegar ($6200 DK / $7000 FD)
Hat trick last game and four goals in his past five from the blue line; averaging two and a half shots and blocks per game to go along with 29 points on the season.  Will be needed against a tough Rangers team.

The Value:  Ivan Barbashev ($3600 DK / $4500 FD)
Slotted up to L1 in the wake of Eichel’s injury and has nabbed two goals and added five helpers in his L5.

The Stack:  NJ1 (Hughes/Toffoli/Palat/Hughes)
The Devils are finally back at full strength with Jack Hughes being back, and tonight they are at home against the Kraken, who while fairly adept defensively, do not have a good offense.  New Jersey is currently on the outside of the playoffs looking in, so they’ll want to take advantage of every chance they can get.  Like this trio as they’re together on L2 and also on the top power play line; mix in Bratt and Hischier as secondary pieces.

The Builder:  none
