NHL Building Blocks – February 11

NHL Building Blocks – February 11

Small early two-gamer today in advance of the Super Bowl.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – February 11
The Goalie:
 Thatcher Demko ($8000 DK / $8300 FD)
Should be popular on this small slate facing a Caps offense that averages below three goals per game, nearly a whole goal and a half per game lower than Vancouver.  Washington did just play yesterday as well (and won) while the Canucks are fresh.

The Center:  JT Miller ($7500 DK/ $8700 FD)
Leading the team in scoring with 68 points (tied for fifth in the league) and third on the team in goals with 22.  Five points in his L5.

The Wing:  Pavel Buchnevich ($6900 DK/ $7000 FD)
Tied for the team lead in goals with 17; four goals and three assists in his last five games and plays all three situations.

The Defenseman:  Quinn Hughes (7200 $DK / $7500 FD)
Highest upside defenseman on the slate tonight; third on the team in scoring and on pace for 102 points for the season.

The Value:  Pius Suter ($3900 DK / $4800 FD)
Great value paired with Pettersson; three goals and three assists in his last five games.

The Stack:  VAN1 (Miller/Boeser/Lindholm/Hughes/Hronek)
Trying Lindholm up on the top line with Boeser and Miller this afternoon, which should be fun to watch.  Washington is decent defensively, but this offense is just too good (second in the league with a 3.69 goals per game average and a very good 24.9% power play).  Washington hasn’t played since before the break, so the rust factor could definitely come into play.  Hughes and Pettersson are the PP1 pieces to mix in.

The Builder:  none

Vancouver Canucks left wing Andrei Kuzmenko celebrates with centre Elias Pettersson and right wing Brock Boeser during the first period against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center at San Jose. The Canucks won 10-1 on Nov. 2, 2023.
