Week 12 Waiver Wire – NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the the waiver wire targets for this week. These waiver wire targets are normally available in 50-percent of ESPN leagues.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call X, or Twitter, or whatever it’s called @GarettThomas.

QUARTERBACKS

Jordan Love (GB) – 44% Ownership

Love has finished as a top-12 player at the quarterback position for two straight weeks. Since coming off their BYE, Detroit has not defended the quarterback position well. Further, the Lions have allowed an average of 5.8 fantasy points above expectation and 25.3-FPPG (second worst in the NFL) over their last two games. Love is certainly in play for Week 12 and could be heating up. He has @DET, KC, @NYG and TB in his next four games and can be started against those teams, with an exception to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Matthew Stafford (LAR) – 32% Ownership

Failed in a good spot against the Seahawks in Week 11 but has the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12. Arizona has allowed at least 18-FPPG to the quarterback position in their last three games. Streamable play for those looking to fill in a gap at the quarterback roster spot. Look elsewhere if Cooper Kupp is not playing.

Gardner Minshew (IND) – 7% Ownership

He can always go out and get you a turdly score, but sometimes Minshew has 20-point upside. Don’t be certain that Minshew will dominate a porous Tampa Bay defense, but it is a narrative to believe. Since Week 6, the Buccaneers have been the worst defense against opposing quarterbacks: 23.6-FPPG allowed to the position and 5.7 fantasy points above expectation.

RUNNING BACKS

Zach Charbonnet (SEA) – 32% ownership

Elite level handcuff for Kenneth Walker and Charbonnet will likely get the start in Week 12 since it is a short week for the Seahawks (and maybe the weeks beyond?). After Walker went down with a concerning oblique injury, “Charbs” finished the game with a 15/47/0 rushing line and a 6/22/0 receiving line.

The opportunity for Charbonnet is elite and his talent can help him cash in on the volume increase, but the match ups for Seattle running backs are going to be tough for the rest of the season: SF, @DAL, @SF, PHI and @TEN. Nevertheless, you must grab Charbonnet in leagues as the talent and opportunity cannot be ignored. Best case, Charbonnet is a league winning addition; worst case, he flounders in tough match ups or Kenneth Walker returns quickly.

Ty Chandler (MIN) – 50% Ownership

Chandler may continue to see a rise in workload. Chandler finished his Week 11 game with 14 touches and 100 total yards. Chandler’s teammate, Alexander Mattison, still looks replaceable and lost a fumble against the Broncos. Add Chandler and see how this workload shakes out. In a perfect world, Chandler becomes the featured back inside a great-for-fantasy offense.

Ezekiel Elliott (NE) – 34% Ownership

Far from a sexy addition to your fantasy team but he could get you the FLEX points you need to stay competitive, and his schedule looks great! The Patriots are facing off against @NYG, LAC and @PIT over the next three games and those defenses are 19th, 24th and 21st, respectively, against opposing running backs.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Josh Downs (IND) – 44% Ownership

Downs is a player to start down the stretch run for fantasy. He faces TB, @TEN, @CIN, PIT, @ATL and LV, all of these teams are beatable via the pass. Downs has struggled with a knee injury lately and hopefully the BYE week allowed him time to find his health. If he is healthy expect a high-end WR3 finish for the rest of season, with a chance to pop off as a WR1 from time-to-time.

Demario Douglas (NE) – 25% Ownership

He flew under the radar following New England’s BYE week and is somehow still widely available, he should be picked up. Double-digit fantasy output in three of his last four games. This passing attack is a mess but Douglas has carved out a dependable FLEX-worthy role. He faces awful pass defenses over the next three weeks: Giants, Chargers and Pittsburgh.

Jayden Reed (GB) – 19% Ownership

While the snap percentage could be better, Reed continues to dominate usage when he is on the field. He has finished with 19-or-more fantasy points in consecutive weeks and has scored double-digit fantasy points in five of his last seven contests. Reed is ideal for PPR formats. His upcoming schedule is pretty easy as well, @DET, KC, @NYG and TB.

Odell Beckham Jr. (BAL) – 44% Ownership

Snap percentage is a concern, but it is hard to ignore the production seen from Beckham because when he is on the field he gets the ball. In his last three games he has received 16 targets, scored 11-or-more fantasy points in each game, and found the endzone twice. He is faces a brutally bad Chargers defense in Week 12 and they have allowed 31.3-FPPG to the wide receiver position over the last five weeks, 26th best in that timeframe.

Rondale Moore (ARI) – 36% Ownership

With quarterback Kyler Murray looking like his former self, Moore has value in fantasy formats. He catches passes and gets rushing attempts too. Low-end FLEX player for PPR who can be hit-or-miss.

Khalil Shakir (BUF) – 5% Ownership

Finished as the WR6 in Week 11 after scoring a touchdown and churning out 115 receiving yards. He has received around four targets per contest in the last four games and will carry value in PPR. The Bills offense looked much better in Week 11 against the Jets too, and that only bolsters Shakir’s perceived value. He is still a low-end FLEX player for PPR formats.

Tutu Atwell (LAR) – 25% Ownership

Speculative add with Cooper Kupp potentially missing Week 12. Atwell was a FLEX worthy player when Kupp missed the first part of the season due to injury.

TIGHT ENDS

Isaiah Likely (BAL) – 1% Ownership

The next-man-up for teammate Mark Andrews and he is a must-add if your team is tight end needy. We have seen Likely play well when he is the TE1 within this offense in the past. He is a player within an offense who can help carry your team for the rest of season. Potential top-12 TE for the rest of season.

Cade Otton (TB) – 27% Ownership

Otton gets reliable looks within this offense and can even pop off as a high-end TE2. His match up against Indianapolis is attractive as they have allowed 9.3-FPPG to the tight end position, 20th best during that time.

Jonnu Smith (ATL) – 26% Ownership

An Arthur Smith Special. He has upside within a flat offense; he can also your team with very little scoring if he is not a part of the gameplan. Start at your own risk, but you can be rewarded for gambling on Smith.
