Week 6 Waiver Wire – NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the the waiver wire targets for this week. These waiver wire targets are normally available in 50-percent of fantasy football leagues.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Quarterbacks

1. Gardner Minshew (IND) – 1% Ownership

Injuries have propelled Minshew into the starting role for several weeks after the Colts’ starter went down. Minshew has a long history of being a competent starter. He played well against the Tennessee secondary in Week 5, going 11/14 for 155 passing yards and no touchdowns.

2. Joshua Dobbs (ARI) – 28% Ownership

Rough go-around for Dobbs in Week 5, but he started well by throwing two first-quarter touchdowns. The biggest issue was he did not utilize his legs and he turned the ball over multiple times. Hopefully Dobbs will get back to running the football.

3. Baker Mayfield (TB) – 16% Ownership

A guy coming off a BYE week that should be able to provide value for fantasy managers looking to stream the position. He has finished top-18 or better in three-of-four weeks.

Running Backs

1. Jeff Wilson Jr. (MIA) – 28% Ownership

Rookie sensation De’Von Achane is shelved with a hamstring injury and teammate Raheem Mostert has been banged up too. Wilson found his groove in the past within this offense and should immediately be flex-worthy. Miami is expected to designate Wilson to return, which does not guarantee a start in Week 6. It’s worth going after Wilson just in case.

2. Roschon Johnson (CHI) – 39% Ownership

The Chicago starter went down for multiple weeks and Johnson will be the next man up. He can catch the football and runs with a ton of confidence. He has shown to be a young player the Bears trust as well. This may be an opportunity where he solidifies himself as the RB1, but that is an uphill battle. Even if he becomes the RB1, Herbert will eventually return; plus quarterback Justin Fields is always there to steal the tuddies.

3. Emari Demercado (ARI) – 1% Ownership

Demercado vaulted into a workload after an in-game injury to James Conner and Keaontay Ingram was left inactive with a neck injury. If both are out again, Demercado can be used as a flex option. If Conner is back, he’s more of a player to stash due to the constant injuries to Conner.

4. Antonio Gibson (WAS) – 50% Ownership

Seems silly he is available, but then again he is in the doghouse. Grab and hold him if you have the space on your bench. He is one injury away from being an every week RB2 option.

5. Tyjae Spears (TEN) – 26% Ownership

A rookie who continues to do well with his limited touches, and it could force the coaching staff to get him a little more involved. The Titans offense will be trailing often enough this season for Spears get dump-offs. Spears is a weekly deep-league flex option in PPR.

Wide Receivers

1. Quentin Johnston (LAC) – 39% Ownership

A team coming off their BYE week, perhaps Johnston can get more involved now that Mike Williams is out for the season. We did not see it against Las Vegas in Week 4. Teammate Joshua Palmer may emerge and kill Johnston’s hope of an emergence. Three-down back Austin Ekeler should return to this offense in Week 6 as well, siphoning at least four-to-six receptions. Not sure he is startable in Week 6, but this offense is great at producing fantasy points.

2. Josh Downs (IND) – 10% Ownership

With Minshew under center Downs gets a boost. Downs has already received a healthy number of targets and that was with a run-first quarterback. Minshew is a much more traditional drop-back quarterback. Downs has seen as many as 12 targets in a contest, and at least five or more targets in all but one game.

3. K.J. Osborn (MIN) – 15% Ownership

Late addition to the article but certainly should be picked up in all leagues. Osborn is already on the field 90% of the time and primarily operates out of the slot. Will his role change all that much? It remains to be seen but he is startable in Week 6 against the Bears.

4. Josh Reynolds (DET) – 32% Ownership

If the Sun God remains hurt then Reynolds will have value. Jameson Williams will likely take away from Reynolds as he continues to ramp up. Nevertheless, Reynolds is a flex-worthy player until we see Williams take his spot.

5. Wan’Dale Robinson (NYG) – 24% Ownership

Robinson continues to get work in this weak Giants’ offense. It is a matter of time before he gets a game with 10-plus targets. He has seen five, six and six targets over the last three weeks. There was a moment he was ruled out with a concussion in Week 5, but he later reentered the game. He should be active in Week 6 but keep an eye on his health.

6. Zay Jones (JAC) – 30% Ownership

Already with two touchdowns, can he sustain the durability needed for an NFL season? He is worth stashing and finding out if you have the room. He went into Week 5 questionable with a knee injury and was unable to finish the game. Monitor his injury status going into Week 6.

Tight Ends

1. Logan Thomas (WAS) – 12% Ownership

The range of targets can be volatile, but he has seen as many as eight and 11 targets. In addition, he’s scored two touchdowns and has a top-12 finish in three of the four games he has been active. An attractive addition for an offense that produces fantasy points.

2. Tyler Conklin (NYJ) – 12% Ownership

Take a look at Conklin’s target share in the last four weeks: six, five, six and five. He hasn’t scored a touchdown but he is getting looks from quarterback Zach Wilson. Three double-digit PPR efforts and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his first touchdown on the season.

3. Cade Otton (TB) – 24% Ownership

Nothing too special but he has gotten consistent targets and has produced two double-digit fantasy performances in PPR leagues.

4. Dalton Schultz (HOU) 44% Ownership

I am all-in on this Houston offense with Stroud as quarterback. They look good and Schultz may be getting things going. Two consecutive top-6 finishes for the tight end, and there may be meat on the bone.

5. Luke Musgrave (GB) – 24% Ownership

The rookie gets looks in this offense and garners interest in deeper formats. He won’t ever win you a week, but if you are looking for help he can be started.
