Yahoo NFL DFS Strategy for Week 17 | Picks, Tips, and Podcast for Winning Lineups

Yahoo NFL DFS is a slightly different format for DFS with softer player pricing. Learn the tips and tricks that make successful Yahoo DFS players big money every week.

Yahoo! DFS Cash Game Players for Week 17

Every week in Yahoo NFL DFS we look to target high floor players to hit the cash line in 50/50s, Double ups, and head to heads. Let’s identify the best cash plays as we look to hit the cash line again and find ways to leverage ownership in tournaments like the Yahoo! Baller.

Quarterbacks

Justin Fields $41

Fields had a bad week last week, but the matchup is much softer vs Detroit and that is evident on the Domination Station with the 2nd highest QB projection this week. Yahoo! DFS prices QB’s based on their matchup, however, and Fields is the highest priced QB on the slate. I think Fields is an excellent tournament play but I’d lean Mahomes or Goff in cash based on salary.

Patrick Mahomes $37

Mahomes continues to have the safest floor for QB’s and that’s why he hasn’t scored under 19 points in 13 games. The Chiefs still have the number one seed to play for and I’d expect them to stomp a Broncos team that just got blown out by Baker Mayfield and fired their coach. The 28.75 projected team total is 2nd highest on the slate and the offense runs thru Mahomes.

Jared Goff $30

Goff at home in the Dome has blessed us with some great fantasy outings this year and this week the Lions get Chicago at home in what projects as the highest game total and team total on the slate. In regard to Salary and only 2 games on the slate over 49 points, it’s hard to not like Goff this week in this high projected game total.

DFS Winning Strategy

Running Backs

Christian Mccaffrey $35

This week the matchup is outstanding so we can comfortably play CMC against a Raider team that gives up 4.47 points above average to the RB Position. Furthermore, they just benched Carr for Stidham and are in full tank mode. The 49ers should blow the doors off of them here and give CMC all the volume he can handle.

Travis Etienne $31

Houston has the worst run defense in the league, and we can’t overlook the matchup for Etienne who has seen over 20 touches in back-to-back weeks. He’s priced higher than I’m comfortable with given the options of Barkley and CMC in the same salary range, but I will have tournament exposure to Etienne if he doesn’t make it into my cash lineup.

Saquon Barkley $29

After Barkley scored 23 points last week, he has another solid matchup this week vs an Indianapolis team that gives up 2.71 points above average to the RB position. Barkley has the 2nd highest projection on the Domination Station this week for good reason and getting to both CMC and Barkley is doable this week in cash games.

James Conner $23

Conner scores touchdowns with the volume he gets of over 20 touches per game, and we need that for Yahoo NFL DFS. In fact, he has 6 touchdowns in his last 6 games and double-digit points during that span. Atlanta has been a bottom 10 team against the run this season, so the matchup is favorable for Conner to continue his run and he’s my favorite RB priced in the low to mid 20s.

Brian Robinson $22

Robinson only scored 5 points last week, but the volume is there, and the matchup is much better this week; Facing a Cleveland run Defense that gives up 5.03 points above average to the RB position, Robinson is in a good spot to bounce back as he’s seen over 20 touches in 3 out of his last 4 games.

Tyler Allgeier $20

Arizona has been poor against the run this season, (Bottom 5 in the League) and Allgeier has now averaged over 20 touches per game over the last 2 games – including 5 targets in the passing game last week. This is a great matchup for the rookie, and he’s priced low relative to his upside here.

**Injury Pending**

AJ Dillon $20

Aaron Jones had his ankle “rolled up on” last week. The matchup is elite against a Minnesota team that has been giving up 4.5 points above average to the RB position over the past 5 weeks of the season. If Jones can’t go, AJ likely gets a full workload as the starter in a great matchup, at a discounted price.

Wide Receivers

Justin Jefferson $36

Do we even need to elaborate at this point? Jefferson is playable every week despite the matchup. Even in a tougher matchup, Jefferson is still the top projected WR and for what it’s worth, he torched Green Bay in Week 1 for 184 yards and 2 Touchdowns. His 35% target share on the season is elite of elite.

Amon-ra St. Brown $25

Over the past month of the season, Chicago has been the 7th worst team against the pass… giving up 4.52 points above average to the WR position. Zylstra isn’t going to vulture 3 touchdowns every week, so we’ll play Amon-ra in this elite matchup with confidence as he has a 22% target share on the season and next closest in the offense is 10%… The vast majority of opportunities go to Amon-Ra.

Chris Godwin $21

Carolina is a great matchup for opposing Wide receivers – giving up 6.23 points above average over the last 5 games. Godwin has averaged 10.6 targets per game for Tampa over the last 5 games and thus projects as a Top 10 Wide Receiver play this week for Yahoo NFL DFS.

Garrett Wilson $16

Zach Wilson is out. Mike White is in. Welcome back Garrett Wilson! When White is under center, Wilson averages 10 targets per game and the offense just runs more efficiently so Wilson is back in play despite the tougher matchup. He’s underpriced relative to his upside in the offense.

DJ Chark Jr. $15

Chark has gotten 5.75 targets in 4 of his last 5 games and 95+ yards in 3 out of his last 4 games. At $15, he doesn’t need to do much to hit value, and this is the right game environment for him to do it.

Elijah Moore $10

The last time Mike White played, Elijah Moore saw 10 targets. At only $10, he’s DFS Army’s top fantasy points per dollar play this week.

Tight Ends

T.J. Hockenson $22

Hockenson has supplanted Thielen in the Minnesota Offense as the number two option as evident last week when he saw a 28% target share. Hockenson is my favorite pay up option at Tight End if you can find enough value to do so.

George Kittle $20

Kittle has been on a terror with Purdy leading the offense with back-to-back games over 20 points. Kittle might even be a better play this week than Hockenson as he certainly has the 2nd highest projection on the week behind Kelce – at a fraction of the salary.

Cade Otton $11

One of the top Fantasy points per Dollar plays at my favorite Tight End price – near the minimum. Otton consistently sees more targets than Bellinger, (7 last week) so I see him as a safer punt option, but $11 Bellinger is in play as well given the matchup.

Defenses

Kansas City Chiefs $17

The Broncos are a mess – tossing 4 total interceptions last week – and they just fired their coach. Definitely need some tournament exposure here as the Chiefs should romp.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers $14

One of the top Fantasy Points per Dollar Plays and let’s not forget that Sam Darnold is still playing Quarterback for the Panthers so he could revert back to the turnover prone player we’ve seen before.

Atlanta Falcons $11

A Defense almost priced at Minimum and facing a third string QB. I love pay down options like Atlanta this week.

Yahoo NFL DFS Stack of the Week

Jared Goff & Amon-ra St. Brown

Total Stacking Price: $55

There’s lots of reasons to love this stack and game environment. The Bears and Lions game sports the only game total on the slate of over 50 points, and the Lions have the highest team total of 29 points. Furthermore, the numbers back up this game potentially shooting out as both the Bears and Lions are good matchups for opposing QB’s and WR’s. With Amon-Ra being far and away the top receiving option for Detroit, he’s my favorite stacking piece with Goff, but there are plenty of cheap stacking pieces that we can stack with Goff as well like DJ Chark, and dirt-cheap Chicago bring backs.

Top Yahoo NFL DFS Leverage Plays

Kirk Cousins at 3%

Cousins has been on a bit of a terror lately and this is the other great game environment on the slate. Cousins’ chalk is a no go for me but under owned Cousins? Yes, I’ll go there in tournaments.

Garnder Minshew at 2%

We had Minshew in our lineups last week and he smashed. Now he’s priced up a bit and the uncertainty if Hurts will play or not has Minshew with low projected ownership. Can he do it again? I think he can, and I like him when he’s not the chalk.

Travis Etienne at 8%

The matchup is too good for Etienne to be under 10% owned. This is a lock for me in tournaments at these ownership numbers.

Dalvin Cook at 3%

I almost wrote Cook into my cash game pool but liked the other options better around his $31 salary. However, he’s a fantastic direct leverage play off of the 24% projected ownership for Justin Jefferson.

Jerick Mckinnon at 3%

3 weeks ago, Mckinnon torched the Broncos on his way to a 30+ point slate breaking performance. He gets the Broncos again at low ownership and a high team total in what figures to be positive game script for KC’s Running Backs.

Josh Jacobs at 2%

The matchup is tough and he’s expensive, so only 2% of the field is on him. However, Jacobs has a lot to play for as he needs 92 yards to hit 2,000 all-purpose yards on the season. I wouldn’t have a ton of exposure, but I think having some exposure to Jacobs here as a leverage play is smart for your tournament builds.

Christian Watson at 6%

Watson’s number of targets have been consistent, and he gets targeted in the endzone which is most important. With 7 touchdowns in 6 games, Watson is a top leverage play for me in this game environment that has the 2nd highest projected total on the slate.

Chris Godwin at 5%

Carolina is a great matchup for opposing Wide receivers – giving up 6.23 points above average over the last 5 games. Godwin has averaged 10.6 targets per game for Tampa over the last 5 games and thus projects as a Top 10 Wide Receiver play this week on Yahoo. His low ownership and high floor make him a play in all formats.

Dante Pettis at 4%

The Pettis play is in Fields or Goff stacks as a way to get different and at minimum pricing. He doesn’t need to hit 20+ points to provide tournament winning upside in team/game stacks.

Jerry Jeudy at 3%

Jeudy has emerged as the number one option in Denver with over 8 targets in 3 consecutive games. The last time he faced KC, he had 3 touchdowns. I like Jeudy only as a bring back in Mahomes’ stacks.

Elijah Moore at 3%

The last time Mike White played, Elijah Moore saw 10 targets. At only $10, he’s DFS Army’s top fantasy points per dollar play this week and at low ownership.

Devonta Smith at 3%

12 targets last week for Devonta Smith; With Minshew in the offense and with Lattimore likely to cover AJ Brown this week, I’m going right back to Devonta in Minshew stacks.

DJ Chark Jr.  at 2%

Chark has got 5.75 targets in 4 of his last 5 games and 95+ yards in 3 out of his last 4 games. At $15, he doesn’t need to do much to hit value, and this is the right game environment for him to do it. This is exactly the low ownership that we need to differentiate our Goff/Amon-RA Stacks.

Tyler Conklin at .21%

Seattle has a bottom 5 pass defense against the tight end position – giving up 3.46 points above average – so Conklin is coming in as a very under the radar play in a plus matchup.
