Every week we will be breaking down the top waiver wire adds for your season long fantasy football leagues. This article will highlight some of the key players to target in week 14 and the recommended Free Agent Auction Budget (FAAB) you should spend. Check out the video to get a more detailed breakdown and a deeper list of players.
Top Quarterback Waiver Wire Target
Tyler Huntley, Baltimore Ravens 7-10% FAAB
Lamar Jackson left Sunday’s game with a knee injury. Enter Huntley who secured the win for the Ravens scoring a touchdown through the air and on the ground. Typically we don’t recommend backup quarterbacks as top waiver wire targets, but Huntley is different. He possesses rare athleticism for a quarterback including 92nd percentile speed running a 4.61 40 yard dash. More importantly, we have seen the face melting upside Huntley presents. In week 15 of the 2021 season, Huntly put up a monster 35.9 points and finished as the QB one on the week. If you have been steaming quarterbacks all season, Huntley may be the player to helps secure your playoff berth.
Top Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Target
DJ Chark, Detroit Lions 7-8% FAAB
DJ Chark has the athletic profile to play as an alpha in the NFL but never reached that ceiling. Fortunately for Chark , he is playing along side a true alpha wide receiver in Amon-Ra St. Brown. This allows Chark to face the number two corners on a weekly basis which will allow for more consistent fantasy production. In addition, Chark can use his 4.34 wheels to break off long plays which can lead to week-winning performances in fantasy football. Chark appears to be clear of the ankle sprain which sidelined him for most of the season. He is poised to help the Lions make a playoff push starting this week against Minnesota who rank dead last in fantasy points to outside wide receivers.
Top Running Back Waiver Wire Target
James Cook, Buffalo Bills 10-12% FAAB
James Cook finally had his inflection game in week 13 when the Bills faced off against the Patriots on Thursday night. Cook played on 43% of the snaps and had a total of 20 touches including 6 receptions. The game marked his career high and is telling on how the Bills should play their running back duo for the balance of the season. James Cook experienced his growing pains throughout the season but the usage ahead of the mini bye suggests that the backfield will be closer to a 50/50 timeshare as we near the fantasy playoffs. He is a must add and is still available in almost 70% of leagues.
