Quarterbacks to Stream – Week 17 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the quarterbacks to stream this week. The quarterbacks to stream on this list are normally available in 40-percent of leagues.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Jared Goff (DET) vs Chicago Bears

Available in 45% of ESPN Leagues

Chicago flies into town and when it comes to defending quarterbacks, the Bears can’t stop them. Goff is hot right now too, averaging 21.96-FPPG over his last three contests.

In the last three weeks no defense has allowed more points to the quarterback position than the Bears, 25.1-FPPG. Additionally, Chicago has allowed two fantasy points above expectation during that time. Chicago tends to shootout too; their game-totals have averaged 54 points per contest (this includes both teams).

While the Chicago defense is a dream for fantasy quarterbacks, the Lions’ D is great at allowing high-scoring shootouts as well. Shootouts always improve fantasy expectations for players and teams… Especially ones named Jared Goff. Over their last six games the game-total for the Lions’ have averaged 51.8 points per game. For reference, NFL games that see 50-or-more total points is considered high scoring.

With two offensive juggernauts colliding, both of these quarterbacks should dominate the Week 17 box score. Goff has upside for three to four touchdowns and should not be benched in 2-QB leagues.

Daniel Jones (NYG) vs Indianapolis Colts

Available in 34% of ESPN Leagues

Daniel Jones has finished as the overall QB3, 20, 12, 11, 26 and 9 over the last six weeks, respectively. While being nothing flashy, Jones has come into his own down the stretch of 2022. His 17.1-FPPG is 12th best over the last three weeks.

The Colts are worse than average when it comes to defending against the quarterback position. They have allowed 19.6-FPPG to opposing quarterbacks in their last three weeks. During the same time they allowed 2.1 fantasy points above expectation, which is also worse than league average.

Another reason that Jones and the Giants should succeed is because the Colts’ offense is a dumpster fire. Indy’s offense was nothing but Jonathan Taylor. Now that Taylor is sidelined for the season, the Giants are an easy bet for securing one-or-multiple turnovers on defense. These turnovers create short-field opportunities for Jones and the Giants’ offense, hopefully leading to more fantasy points scored by Jones.

Brock Purdy (SF) @ Las Vegas Raiders

Available in 71% of ESPN Leagues

“Mr. Reliable,” through four weeks as San Francisco’s starting quarterback, hasn’t lit up the box score but he has quarterbacked a 4-0 record. As a seventh-round rookie, that is a huge accomplishment to achieve while being thrown into the fire unexpectedly.

In his four starts, Purdy has finished as QB18, 8, 14 and 13. While this isn’t anything great, they are points that you can count on for streaming purposes. In the same aforementioned time frame he has scored 15.3, 21.7, 16.5 and 17 fantasy points. He has thrown at least two touchdowns in all four starts. His ceiling seems to be capped around the 20-point-mark, but Purdy seems to get a baseline of two touchdowns per contest.

The Raiders surprisingly have been the 11th best team against opposing quarterbacks over their last five games. The quarterbacks faced in those five games were: Geno Smith (SEA), Justin Herbert (LAC), Baker Mayfield (LAR), Matt Jones (NE) and Kenny Pickett (PIT). For the season as a whole, Las Vegas is allowed 19.2-FPPG to the quarterback position. The Raiders defense is nothing to shy away from when it comes to Purdy’s fantasy outlook.

Purdy should be looked at in 2QB leagues and in single-QB leagues if the waiver-wire is grim. You should prefer Goff over Purdy, but Jones and Purdy are pretty close. The Edge goes to Daniel Jones this week. Purdy is still a locked and loaded middling QB2 for Week 17.

Sleeper Quarterbacks to Stream:

  • Gardner Minshew (PHI) vs New Orleans… If he starts****
  • Deshaun Watson (CLE) @ Washington Commanders
