Quarterbacks to Stream – Week 9 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the quarterbacks to stream this week. The quarterbacks to stream on this list are normally available in 40-percent of leagues.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Justin Fields (CHI) vs Miami Dolphins

Available in 74% of ESPN Leagues

In his last five starts, Fields has ran the ball for 52, 47, 88, 82, and 60 yards. Needless to say these are free fantasy points and it makes the Chicago quarterback one of the safer options to stream this week (so long as he runs the ball). Throwing the ball has not been kind to Mr. Fields and his floor could go out of the window should he be contained and forced to throw from the pocket.

The Dolphins really like to see the scoreboard light up too. They score points very well and it can force teams to rely on their passing attack, plus we have seen shootouts from Miami as well. So far, Miami has allowed 20.2-FPPG to the quarterback position and that is fairly generous for the season. Over their last three games that average has shrunk 20-percent, down to 16-FPPG.

Fields is not projected to go off in this match up. Expect a solid game that helps move the needle in your fantasy box score. He has finished with 19.4, 24.4 and 26 fantasy points in his last three games respectively (@New England and @Dallas in that three-game stretch). He has been the QB2 overall in the last three weeks. Buy and hold if you get him off waivers.

Trevor Lawrence (JAC) vs Las Vegas Raiders

Available in 45% of ESPN Leagues

Facing against the Raiders, at home, could create an excellent streaming match up for Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence has been volatile, even looking bad at times, but the Raiders have looked worse on defense.

There is ceiling potential in Lawrence’s fantasy outlook. The Raiders have allowed the most fantasy points from quarterbacks at 23.4-FPPG this season, and that continues to be a trend. Over their last three games the Raiders have allowed 22.26-FPPG to opposing quarterbacks. Lawrence has also finished in the top-8 of his position in three games this season, including two top-5 finishes as well.

There is volatility from Lawrence but expect a bounce-back fantasy game from the former Clemson quarterback.

Taylor Heinicke (WAS) vs Minnesota Vikings

Available in 91% of ESPN Leagues

Since becoming the starter two weeks ago, Heinicke has posted overall QB finishes of 13th and 8th. The biggest thing to worry about is the potential for turnovers or a run-heavy game script. His match up should be exploitable however.

In their last four games the Vikings have allowed 20.5-FPPG to opposing quarterbacks. In this aforementioned time frame they have also allowed 2.4 fantasy points above expectation to quarterbacks, fifth worst in the NFL. This all carries over from last season too; in 2021 the Vikings were the sixth worst team at containing quarterbacks and allowed 19.1-FPPG to the position.

Looking back at 2021 again, we had a large sample size of what Heinicke can do. Last season he scored as many as 27.9 fantasy points. He had five games with over 20 fantasy points as well. He has the ability to reach his ceiling in the right scenario and that is a plus for streaming quarterbacks.

He is another player that should get the job done as a streamer, but likely won’t set the world on fire. There are worse situations that you can find yourself in as a fantasy manager in Week 9.

Sleeper Quarterbacks to Stream

  • Jared Goff (DET) vs Green Bay Packers
  • Marcus Mariota (ATL) vs Los Angeles Chargers
  • Andy Dalton (NO) vs Baltimore Ravens
