DFS NHL is a volatile sport centering around correlation, stacking and game theory. Learning how to win cash games and tournaments requires nailing those great upside plays/stacks, grabbing obvious value, and making the proper fades that sink everyone else’s ships. Let’s look through today’s slate and identify those winning picks in “Snipes and Grinders!”
All of my plays make sense for the entire DFS industry; however, if there is an egregious discrepancy in player salary between sites, I will mention it in my briefing.
Snipe = Good Play
Grinder = Value Plays (Grinders are Valuable)
DFS NHL Slate Overview:
NHL season is here! Check out all of our industry-leading content on dfsarmy.com, and if interested feel free to DM me personally and I’ll get your journey started. Remember, our mission is a process, we grow and learn every day; figure out what our competitors are doing, identify the correct plays, and calculate the correct ways to attack each slate. Every slate is different and can be attacked in different ways. We also have great tools to work with like the domination station (optimizer), the research station, chalk boards, as well as tons of coaches readily available in our discord.
Now – onto hockey
Big slate here with some high priced options, some backup goalies, and some unexpected high ceiling stacks. Toronto is starting to heat up a bit, and Matthews will always be popular; but with their tough history against the Bruins, as well as the Bruins simply having a great defense and goaltending situation, I am going to fade this particular spot. A spot I do like, that I have as my 3rd favorite stack on the slate is the Lightning facing Buffalo at home in a back to back. I also like the spots that the Flames and Senators are in; they are both at home against teams they can score well against. Tristan Jarry is probably going to be the chalkiest goalie on this slate.
Correlated Snipe #1
Sidney Crosby – Jake Guentzel – Bryan Rust
The Penguins have gone through a very tough stretch of late, and they need to win this home game against the Kraken. If the Penguins get eaten by the giant Kraken monster thing, then their season will start coming off the rails a little bit. Even if that happens, I think the Penguins will be fine over the course of the season, but questions will certainly be asked. Coach Sullivan knows this, and the big boys will be being deployed in every favorable matchup imaginable. They correlate on both the top line and the top powerplay unit, and the Kraken’s defense and goaltending do not scare me whatsoever. This is a don’t overthink it spot, and just trot out the Penguins big boys.
Correlated Snipe #2
Mikael Granlund – Matt Duchene – Filip Forsberg
Everyone knows I love the Predators top line, and I am grabbing them again here against the Canucks. Sure, traveling to Western Canada sucks for them, but the Canucks don’t believe in defense. Thatcher Demko may be a good goalie, but he can also be overrated. The Predators have heated up the scoring recently, even with their sub-par record; and here, I am betting they score some more. Forsberg in my opinion is one of the best pure offensive players in the world, and he will start going on a tear here soon. Obviously Roman Josi is also stackable here as well. This line also double dips on the top powerplay as well, which is something I will always be striving for.

NHL Grinder Value Plays
Grinder #1
Adam Henrique – As of right now, he is listed as on the Ducks top line and top powerplay unit.
Grinder #2
William Karlsson – Super active player, 2nd line, 2nd powerplay unit, top penalty kill; will be out to finish games, and loves to shoot that puck.
Grinder #3
Owen Tippett – Getting big opportunities for the Flyers; loves to shoot that puck, and anyone that plays for Torts will be forced to block shots as well.
Grinder #4
Alexander Barabanov – Is shooting that puck, and has 3 assists in his last 2 games. Plays top line and powerplay minutes for the Sharks.
Grinder #5
Jordan Eberle – 2nd line with Matty Beniers and Jaden Schwartz (for the Kraken). Also is on that top powerplay unit.
Good luck, I hope you all come in 2nd. 😉
