DFS NHL is a volatile sport centering around correlation, stacking and game theory. Learning how to win cash games and tournaments requires nailing those great upside plays/stacks, grabbing obvious value, and making the proper fades that sink everyone else’s ships. Let’s look through today’s slate and identify those winning picks in “Snipes and Grinders!”
All of my plays make sense for the entire DFS industry; however, if there is an egregious discrepancy in player salary between sites, I will mention it in my briefing.
Snipe = Good Play
Grinder = Value Plays (Grinders are Valuable)

Now – onto hockey
Big slate here with some high priced options as well as some sneaky stacks. This might be the biggest slate of the entire season, which means a few things. First off it means that there is no real super chalk. Secondly, it means that ownerships of stacks will be spread out somewhat widely; so, if you have a random stack, it could catapult you to a win. Matthews and the Leafs are up against the Devils, in Toronto, and even with all of the superstar talent in that game, I am not going there. The 10 game win streak narrative is fun, but it is not worth chasing. These players are too expensive, and the Devils’ defense is too strong to warrant a $20k Leafs stack. The Canadiens are super interesting against the Blue Jackets who have no players left. The entire Blue Jackets team is hurt, and the Canadiens are a fast young team. The Bruins at home against the sliding Flyers is also a juicy spot. The Rangers could also be an under-owned high upside stack, if you think that Martin Jones of the Seattle Kraken will come back down to earth. So many options! On gigantic slates, the more chances for lines to bust, which means if you’re right, the rewards are more fruitful.

Mark Scheifele – Kyle Connor – TBD
If the TBD is Mason Appleton, stacking all 3 is not a must, and I may lean on our favorite underrated defenseman in Josh Morrisey. If the TBD is Blake Wheeler or Cole Perfetti, I will gladly play the entire line. The Jets are my favorite stack on the slate, quite simply because they are at home, against the Ducks. The Ducks are currently the worst team in the league, and they really super very do not believe in team defense or checking. The Jets are a team of giant men, and the Ducks have small children on their team. Scheifele, Wheeler, Dubois, Appleton, are all giant dudes in hockey context, nd Kyle Connor is very fast and strong as well. With the home line change advantage, as well as the athletic advantage, the Jets are my go to stack. On DraftKings we have to keep scrolling to find these guys as well; they are at a supreme discount, and the top line has started to figure it out recently.

Jack Eichel – Chandler Stephenson -Mark Stone
The Golden Knights are the best team in the NHL with one of the best home atmospheres in the NHL and they are getting to play the poopy Arizona Coyotes. Jack Eichel has also shown slate breaking abilities with the hat-trick in Buffalo, and we are always looking for that super boom in tournaments. Chandler Stephenson is currently a point per game player as well, and he should continue feasting here. Eichel and Stephenson have gained a great chemistry together, and Mark Stone is trying to catch up. When mark Stone catches up to those guys, look out! I doubt Bruce Cassidy will change the lines up with how well the team is doing, so this is the lineup I expect. Karlsson, Marchessault, Smith is also a stackable Vegas line for cheaper, but I like Eichel’s line more. At some point Stone will have to get it going, he is a statistical anomaly right now with how mediocre his production has been. Whenever I can get a super high-upside stack for super-miniscule ownership, I will roll the dice and be overweight on the field.

Emil Bemstrom – Was leading the AHL in points before his callup to the NHL; first game vs NYI, goal! Patrik Laine is dead for 4 weeks, Bemstrom is slotting in at super cheap on the top line and I believe the top powerplay unit.
