DFS NFL Week 10 Draft Kings Milly Maker Review

The Milly Maker is a large Field GPP where the top prize pays out $1,000,000. Read the winning trends that we’ve found by reviewing years of winning lineups!

Nov 13, 2022; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (1) celebrates with tight end Trevon Wesco (88) and wide receiver Byron Pringle (13) after he scores a touchdown against the Detroit Lions during the first half at Soldier Field. After Fields was in the Week 9 winning Milly Maker lineup while throwing only 127 yards – and bringing pass catchers Mooney and Kmet with him – we could reason that if Fields was to be in the ‘nuts’ again, that he would likely bring only one pass catcher with him or he would certainly throw for a lot more than 127 yards if he brought 2 with him again. He threw for more than 127 yards this time (160) and yet didn’t bring a single pass catcher with him – which just goes to show what an outlier week 9 was. Having said all of that, Fields is a dynamic player and has that upside to break a slate as he has in back-to-back weeks.

Week 10 Milly Maker Lineup Points
Fields 43.38
Pollard 24.8
Jeff Wilson 25.3
Amon ra- St. Brown 25.1
Christian Kirk 34.5
George Pickens 14.5
Travis Kelce 20.1
Christian Watson 35.7
Vikings 15
Total 238.38

Stacking

Game Stacks: Fields 43.38 + Amon-ra St. Brown 25.1 = 68.48 fantasy points

Christian Watson 35.7 + Tony Pollard 24.8 = 60.5 fantasy points

Christian Kirk 34.5 + Travis Kelce 20.10 = 54.6 fantasy points

Total Stacking Points: 183.58 fantasy points

Total Stacking Ownership: 110.80%

I think we’d have to go back to 2020 when Taysom Hill was the only QB to be in the winning Milly Maker build without a pass catcher stacked with him. Despite Fields not having a pass catcher stacked alongside him, he did have Amon-Ra as the bring back to complete this mini game stack. In a contest full of lineups that had a lot of the same stacking pieces in this game, this lineup definitely got different.

That said, points were left on the table by using Kelce in a game stack with Christian Kirk, as opposed to pairing up Cole Kmet and Fields again this week. Cole Kmet was the top scoring Tight End on the slate, again, and was only $3400 and about 1% less owned than Kelce.

The top stack here really was Christian Watson and Tony Pollard from an ownership and fantasy points per dollar perspective.

We’ve now seen 6 total players used in stacks in 4 out of 10 winning builds this season. Three out of four of those times there were 2 secondary stacks of 2 players – like week 1 when DFS Army VIP RapidFireXD won the Milly Maker.

Amon ra- St. Brown 16.86%
Christian Kirk 20.36%
George Pickens 10.28%

I promise that someday us contrarian bros will have our day again in large field GPP’s like the Milly Maker, but it might be a while if we keep getting the Bears in shootouts while Fields continues to run this hot running and now passing the ball. Over the past 4 weeks, we’ve seen total team ownership at 189%, 174%, 125%, and 147%. The average of 158% over that span is 56% higher than the combined average that we saw in 2020 and 2021. Despite a really high spike in total team ownership recently, we’ve had weeks this season with 83%, 95%, and 54%. When the best plays are more obvious and they smash, this will result in higher total team ownership numbers.

Top Leverage Plays

Jeff Wilson at 10%

Wilson was direct leverage off of chalky Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle who combined for over 35% ownership. He was also leverage off of pricier backs like 26% owned Barkley and 27% Travis Etienne.

Christian Watson at 2%

The Christian Watson game came out of nowhere because on the season he had only played 20% of the snaps and had a 5% target share. Yet, he blew up for 35 points at 2% ownership and a $3700 salary, so he was the top leverage play on the entire slate. With this performance from Watson, it just goes to show that you can play anyone in GPP’s as long as they’re correlated in a stack like he was here with Pollard.

Pricing and Value from the Milly Maker Contest

Week 10 Milly Maker Lineup Pricing FPTS Per Dollar
Fields $6,500 6.67X
Pollard $6,500 3.81X
Jeff Wilson $5,500 4.6X
Amon Ra- St. Brown $6,900 3.63X
Christian Kirk $5,900 5.84X
George Pickens $5,000 2.9X
Travis Kelce $7,800 2.57X
Christian Watson $3,700 9.64X
Vikings $2,200 6.81X
Total $50,000 4.76X

Christian Watson’s 9.64X is the highest we’ve seen since TJ Hockenson’s 10.46X in week 4 of the season. This winning build was really made possible by avoiding the pricey stacks of Mahomes/Kelce, Allen/Diggs, Tua/Hill, playing Fields solo, and avoiding the Running Backs above 7K. One of the staples of Milly Maker winning builds is finding great value like Watson at $3700, the Vikings at $2200, and generally avoiding the top pay up options above 8k by carving out a lineup of guys between 5-7k. You have that here with Kelce being the top pay up option under 8k.

Ceiling

As I’ve talked about several times this season, there’s a correlation between higher scores and thicker stacks. This week we saw scoring below 240 points and there was no primary stack of a QB + 2 pass catchers, or even a QB + 1 pass catcher. We had 3 mini game stacks for a total of 6 players which is what we saw a lot in 2021 winning builds.

Alas, the ceiling remains at about 250 points on the season with a 249-point average and there have been many different styles of builds to get there. I’ll break down the Milly Maker MME strategy of top DFS Pros this week on DFS Army’s Youtube Channel.
