Defenses to Stream – Week 9 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the defenses to stream this week. The defenses to stream listed below are normally found in at least 40-percent of leagues.

Week 8’s article had an elite top play that scored 14 fantasy points, Philly. Overall it was an average week of results and the defenses listed in Week 8 scored an average of 6.5 fantasy points.

Patriots D/ST vs Indianapolis Colts

Available in 34% of Sleeper Leagues

They are not widely available but they could be on your waiver wire. If you find them, start them up. They are facing a young inexperienced QB who will be playing away from his home turf. Outside of New England’s loss to the Bears their D/ST has finished in the top-8 or better in four of their last five games.

Chiefs D/ST vs Tennessee Titans

Available in 93% of Sleeper Leagues

The Chiefs coming off their BYE against a Titans team riding a five-game winning streak and it could get ugly. The Chiefs have risen to a -12.5 point favorite after opening as a -10.5 point favorite. Part of this lopsided projection is the play style of each team: Kansas City can score points at-will, whereas Tennessee must control the time of possession and play defense. The Titans are not built to score a ton of points and playing from behind could be extremely difficult to do with Ryan Tannehill or a rookie QB. This can quickly lead to fantasy points for the Chiefs D/ST.

This matchup is similar to Week 7 when the Chiefs faced off against the 49ers. KC’s D/ST scored 13 fantasy points and finished as the 3rd best D/ST overall. If the rookie QB starts for Tennessee, the Chiefs are an automatic plug-and-play D/ST.

Vikings D/ST @ Washington Commanders

Available in 90% of Sleeper Leagues

The Commanders find themselves in the top-half of the league in turnovers (10) and have allowed the third most sacks with 26. Washington also allows a pressure rate of 24.8% which is the eighth worst.

Minnesota’s D/ST has had great fantasy performances in 2022 but they have been volatile too. They have finished top-6 at the position three times, scoring double-digit fantasy points in each. They have logged 21 sacks which is in the top-half of the NFL. And they have forced 13 turnovers, amongst the league leaders.

Expect a good week from this D/ST unit.

Dolphins D/ST @ Chicago Bears

Available in 68% of Sleeper Leagues

The Dolphins defense has not been that great for fantasy purposes but their opponent has. The Bears are allowing the fourth-most points to the D/ST position. This likely stems from the bears committing 12 turnovers and allowing the leagues most sacks with 31. There is also potential that Chicago falls behind early and Fields is forced to throw the ball. In that game-theory this defense could snag a few interceptions, you just hope one goes to the house.
