Waiver Wire Adds Drops for Week 8 NFL Season Long Fantasy Football | DFS Army

Every week we will be breaking down the top waiver wire adds for your season long fantasy football leagues. This article will highlight some of the key players to target in week 8 and the recommended Free Agent Auction Budget (FAAB) you should spend. Check out the video to get a more detailed breakdown and a deeper list of players.

Running Back Waiver Wire Targets

Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens 15% FAAB

Gus Edwards was activated from the PUP list prior to the the week 7 game and had an outstanding performance. Despite only playing on 36% of snaps, Edwards ran the ball for 66 yards and a touchdown. Edwards missed the entire 2021 season due to an ACL tear. In 2020 though, Edwards was one of the most efficient running backs in the league. He averaged 5.6 yards per touch which ranked top 12 for running backs. Edwards also racked up 28 evaded tackles (per playerprofiler.com) with only a 38% opportunity share. In week 7 we saw that Edwards still had the same explosiveness and appears to be fully recovered from the injury. Edwards is going to be the top waiver wire target this week and is worth spending up to acquire.

Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams 1-3% FAAB

Kyren Williams was drafted by the Rams in round 5 in the 2022 draft. Williams was having a solid pre-season until he fractured his foot which has cost him the first two months of the football season. At the time, his role wasn’t clearly defined as the third back in a rotation. The recent Cam Akers drama has opened up the backfield and presents Williams with a perfect opportunity to act as a third down back. Williams is a pass catching specialist earning a 12.5% target share in college which is an 88th percentile. When evaluating rookie running backs entering the NFL, we look for a minimum of 20 receptions per season in college. Williams caught 42 receptions with 3 receiving touchdowns in 2021 to complement his 995 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Kyren Williams is the ideal stash in PPR leagues.

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Targets

Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts 3-5% FAAB

Parris Campbell appears to be having a career resurgence these last two weeks. Campbell was a highly regarded prospect when he was drafted in round 2 of the 2019 draft, but has never been able to stay healthy. The first five weeks of the season, Campbell received a total of 15 targets. In the last two weeks he has received 23 targets. His yards per target has been somewhat abysmal, between 5-6 yards, but he is able to use his explosive 4.31 speed to make plays. The Colts announced this week that Sam Ehlinger would be taking over for the ineffective Matt Ryan at quarterback. This change creates uncertainty for Campbell but it’s clear the Colts have built a game plan to get Campbell involved. On the bright side, it can’t get much worse with Ehlinger versus Ryan throwing the ball.
