Waiver Wire Adds Drops for Week 5 NFL Season Long Fantasy Football | DFS Army

Every week we will be breaking down the top waiver wire adds for your season long fantasy football leagues. This article will highlight some of the key players to target in week 5 and the recommended Free Agent Auction Budget (FAAB) you should spend. Check out the video to get a more detailed breakdown and a deeper list of players.

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Targets

Josh Reynolds, Detroit Lions 1-5%  FAAB

Josh Reynolds was the beneficiary of Amon-Ra St. Brown and DJ Chark missing the week 4 contest against the Seahawks. Reynolds has been a staple of the Lions offence though with usage in every game this season. In fact, he has participated in at least 72% of snaps in every game so far this season and even earned 10 targets in week 3. St. Brown garnered a 33% target share in games where he played so Reynolds is only viable if St. Brown or Chark continue to miss time.

Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills 1-3%  FAAB

Khalil Shakir was drafted in the 5th round by the Bills and profiles as a slot wide receiver in the NFL. In college he had elite usage while playing at Boise State with a 32.2% target share (95th percentile) and a 40.8% college dominator rating which accounts for a team receiving yards and touchdowns. He had limited opportunity to start this season playing behind Isaiah McKenzie and Jamison Crowder. Crowder will miss time with a broken ankle and McKenzie enters week 5 in the concussion protocol. The Buffalo Bills lead the league in pass completions and rank third in pass attempts. We also know Josh Allen loves to throw to the slot wide receiver. Shakir is a great player to target in deeper leagues.

Running Back Waiver Wire Targets

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons  20% FAAB

Tyler Allgeier started his college football career playing the linebacker position until he transitioned to running back in 2019. In his final college season he broke BYU’s single season rushing record with 1,601 yards and also scored 23 touchdowns which was tied for first in the NCAA in 2021. Allgeier now has the opportunity to seize the lead running back position in Atlanta where he only needs to beat out Caleb Huntly. Allgeier is our top waiver wire target heading into week 5.

Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 15% FAAB

Rachaad White was one of our favorite rookies entering the 2022 season. White profiles similarly to David Johnson and has elite pass catching upside which equates to fantasy football gold. White finished his college career with a target share of 18.9% which is a 98th percentile. He had an eye popping 43 receptions for 456 yards to add to his 1,006 rush yards and 15 total touchdowns. We saw White’s usage increase in week 4 with 38% of snaps where he caught all 5 of his targets for 50 yards. He was also given the red zone usage over Leonard Fournette. There is no question that Fournette will continue to lead this backfield. We should expect the Buccaneers to increase White’s usage though as he gains Tom Brady’s trust and if they want to keep Fournette healthy for a playoff run.
