Quarterbacks to Stream – Week 5 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the quarterbacks to stream this week. Most quarterbacks featured on this list are available in at least 40-percent of leagues.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Jared Goff (DET) @ New England Patriots

Available in 56% of ESPN Leagues

To this very moment, it is hard to fathom Goff’s season which has been well above expectations. He has outperformed Kyler Murray, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow so far in 2022. Plug him into your lineup if he is available and you need a streaming option in Week 5.

This particular match up on the road against New England is not ideal, but Goff is the QB5 overall on the season. While New England will be incentivized to slow this game down and trust their defense, they still allow 20.4-FPPG to the quarterback position. Goff is averaging 22.91-FPPG.

Don’t expect a blow up game from Goff, but look for two touchdowns and 265 yards of passing. Hopefully he can take care of the ball while on the road.

Carson Wentz (WAS) vs Tennessee Titans

Available in 44% of ESPN Leagues

Two great fantasy weeks followed up with two poor fantasy weeks: classic Carson Wentz. In Week 5, Wentz should be able to bounce back against Tennessee.

The Titans defense has allowed huge games to the QB position. Through four weeks Tennessee has allowed two top-6 overall finishes and three top-12 finishes to opposing QBs. In other words, they have allowed a top-12 quarterback performance in 75% of their games. These statistics coupled with Wentz being at home sets up a nice streaming opportunity for him.

Despite two bad weeks, Wentz is still the QB9 overall and is averaging 19.11-FPPG. There are not great streaming options this week and Wentz’s match up against Tennessee stands out amongst widely available quarterbacks. Trust Wentz and his skill players to get the job done for your streaming needs in Week 5.

Jameis Winston (NO) vs Seattle Seahawks

Available in 76% of ESPN Leagues

I wrote about this guy last week and mentioned to monitor his injury situation, hopefully you saw that and were able to find another option. Once again, I am going to highlight Winston in Week 5. Keep in mind there has not been official word about his status so he could miss this game or be limited.

Seattle is fresh off surrendering 34.2 fantasy points to Jared Goff, which was the overall QB1 performance of the week. This defense has allowed two top-12 performances to opposing QBs and both were in road games. In fact, the worst fantasy finish for a QB playing against Seattle was QB15 (Seattle was at home for this game).

Winston has thrown the rock a lot this season too. He has thrown at least 34 pass attempts in each contest and he has attempted 40-or-more passes in 66% of his games. The breakout of fellow wide receiver Chris Olave gives Winston even more weapons at his disposal. If Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry remain healthy in Week 5, this could be a lopsided affair.

Should Winston miss this Seahawks game, I would not start Andy Dalton in his place automatically. The New Orleans’ red zone offense is hard to count on without Winston: Mark Ingram could get the goal line carry, it could be Alvin Kamara, it may be Dalton throwing one for a touchdown… OR it could be Taysom Hill vulturing it all from the wildcat formation.

I like the aforementioned names and Zach Wilson (NYJ) as a better quarterbacks to stream than Dalton, should Winston miss.

Sleeper Quarterbacks to Stream:

  • Zach Wilson (NYJ) vs Miami Dolphins
  • Justin Fields (CHI) @ Minnesota Vikings
