Defenses to Stream – Week 8 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the defenses to stream this week. The defenses to stream listed below are normally found in at least 40-percent of leagues.

Week 7’s article had quality plays throughout and we had a HUGE performance from the Titans D/ST who scored 19 fantasy points. The defenses listed in Week 7 scored an average of 9.33 fantasy points.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (1) fumbles the football after a hit by Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (91) during the second quarter Dec. 20, 2020. Arizona Cardinals center Mason Cole (52) received the ball. Eagles Vs Cardinals

Philadelphia D/ST vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Available in 43% of Sleeper Leagues

The Eagles’ D/ST is one of two teams that is top-five in fantasy points amongst the D/ST position and has already sat out their BYE week. This week they get a rookie quarterback who is playing in Philly…Yikes. It may be time for this Philly unit to feast.

Rookie quarterbacks on the road rarely perform, especially when they are not elite rookies. Through four starts the Steelers’ quarterback Kenny Pickett has thrown seven interceptions (two games with three interceptions) and absorbed six sacks. This really projects well in the Eagles favor since they have the NFL’s most turnovers (14) and have gotten home to the quarterback 17 times, top-10 in the NFL.

This is an auto-start, no brainer. There is a realistic chance the Eagles finish as the number-one overall D/ST for Week 8.

49ers D/ST vs Los Angeles Rams

Available in 24% of Sleeper Leagues

They are not widely available, but the 49ers were going up against the Chiefs last week and some fantasy managers may have dropped them. It is worth checking.

In Week 8, San Francisco will be playing against the Rams who have allowed an average of 15 points to opposing D/ST’s; the next closest team is Indianapolis who allows 11.1-FPPG to opposing D/ST’s. There is no doubt that this 49ers’ defense is elite. Start them with confidence if you are lucky enough to find them.

Washington D/ST @ Indianapolis Colts

Available in 96% of Sleeper Leagues

While newly named quarterback of the Colts, Sam Ehlinger, is not a rookie, he is making his first NFL start in his second season. Through seven weeks Indianapolis has committed 14 turnovers which is the third most in the NFL. A lot of these turnovers point back to now-benched Matt Ryan, but with an inexperienced quarterback under center it may be more of the same for the Colts.

Indianapolis’s offensive line has been poor too and has allowed 24 sacks, tied for the third most in the NFL; the Commanders have logged 19 sacks, tied for seventh most. Expect a low scoring, run-heavy gameplan from both of these teams.

Rams D/ST vs San Francisco 49ers

Available in 47% of Sleeper Leagues

It has not been a great year for the Rams but San Francisco does allow points to opposing defenses. Coming off the BYE-week, the Rams should be well prepared to take on the 49ers again.

In 6-of-7 games, the 49ers have allowed a top-12 D/ST performance or better. The lone week they did not was against the Rams in Week 4. The 49ers still allow 9.6-FPPG against D/ST’s. Additionally, the Rams D/ST has finished top-12 at the position in 4-of-6 games.

If Los Angeles can take away the run-game, it could turn into multiple turnovers from Jimmy G.
